Stopped into my AD and…

Had a great conversation with one of my favorite SAs. It was great to see the cases full again and I got to try on some amazing pieces even though they were marked “Exhibition Only”

What were your thoughts on the Oysterflex Daytona? I love that piece but haven't seen that color in person.

I wonder if Rolex will ever stock display cases again. If they do, it’ll mess with the perception of Rolex IMO (whether you think that’s good or bad is another story).

It felt amazing on the wrist. I highly recommend it.

These are the real deal. Rolex kept the paperwork and will release it whenever they either send new exhibition stock or release them for sale.

I was at Rolex in Beverly Hills last week. They all had dummy movements (I tried winding them myself, they were dead).

I hear other ADs have exhibition models with working movements.

I was able to use the ring command bezel to set the Sky Dweller and run the chronograph function on the Daytona. It was really neat to get to mess with them since it was my first time seeing these models in person.

Wonder if is has anything to do with the looting on Rodeo Drive in 2020. Some ADs might be afraid to display working models.

That’s a good possibility. It’s a rarity here in the Midwest. They did however have an armed guard making his way around the store a few times an hour.

Yes my AD's are fully functional but they were late getting them. I think early on Rolex sent dummies but have since started sending real movements.

I think they just remove the mainspring.

Where I live if a thief grabbed a watch and walked out the armed guard would lose his job if he put his hands on the him.

I prefer the Skydweller on your wrist, FWIW.

Thanks, I do as well. I think it fits wonderfully and the complications are top notch. It’s on my wish list for sure, even if it is years (or decades) from now.

My local AD received exhibition models yesterday. Just happened by there today and was able to try them out. Really fun time. First oysterflex watch and I really loved it. Cool that it fit.

I stopped by a multi-brand AD today as well and their rolex section displays were completely full of exhibition models. But it was still cool to see so many in person and play around with them.

Now onto what will be filed under "another of what my ad told me....", when I inquired what the wait will be for a ss sub or sub date, he said anywhere from 3-6 months. Also added that now, there's no difference between a ss and tt (regardless of the model). Lastly he said they used to get 60-70 pieces every 2 weeks pre-pandemic, and it's dropped to 15-20 every 3-4 weeks.

Wonder if this ad's on the chopping block...

Glad you got the experience too. I hope your AD isn’t getting nixed but both of mine have said that their supply has doubled but demand is extremely high.

I hope not either. But my other AD (another multi brand one) didn't get their rolex renewed and decided to just close up shop (they still had other brands but apparently it didn't make sense for them to continue without the rolex badge)

There's one display case in Orlando that manages to stay PRETTY well stocked continually.

Love that Apple Watch band. Too bad they stretch and become too loose with time.

Really hard to capture its beauty in picture. I love mine!
