If you don't have scratches...you're not wearing it right. Am I correct?
It's been about 2 months since I purchased my 124060 and what can I say, it sure has some minor scuffs already. But hey, I purchased this watch as a daily and have enjoyed wearing it ever since. We spend so much on these amazing pieces to let it sit in the safe. Wear and enjoy it.

It’s gonna happen, yes. That said, I’m not looking for the next scratch to put on my watch. You know what I mean?

Yes minor scratches and scuffs will be normal with use.
Now dings, dents and other major blemishes are easily avoidable once defensive watch wearing habits are developed. Even then, shit happens. Just enjoy |

Defensive watch wearing habits- love that. Care to share some good habits to develop as a new Sub owner?

Keep your watch hand closer to your body. As zen mentioned, keeping your arm behind your back when walking/running towards obstacles like door jambs, boulders, and spiked walls helps. Don/doff watches on carpeted surface or over a chest high surface to minimize impact damage of the watch falls. Take off watch and place in pocket if you know you’re going to be working in an engine bay, crawling through mud, sticking your watch hand into deep dark bug infested crevices to reach a secret lever. |

I still wince when I find a new scratch or scuff but it goes away quickly enough. After all, it’s just a watch.

I find its safest to carry my watches round in a roll rather than on my wrist
Less chance of scratches plus you get the chance to show off your collection when you need to know the time |

Someone should make a roll with a necklace or bracelet around it, so you can strap it on for convenience or hang it around your neck, like a hot dog vendor’s tray.

Had my 124060 for just over a year now and it's picking up some nice wear marks.
I've always tried to keep my watches (and everything else) box fresh, to coin a ‘Padi-ism’ in the real world all this does is stress you out and make wearing these things unenjoyable. Coming round to the idea that every little mark is another piece of character that brings you closer to the watch. |

Yead I'd be embarrassed to wear a shiny Rolex without scratches, it just shows what a boring life you have lived on social media mostly and virtual computer games.

100%. The joy in this hobby comes from wearing them and not just owning them.

If you’re not wearing your watches you’re just a poser. Rolex watches are for cool people, not people that are afraid of scratches. People that are sensitive for blemishes are not cool.
If it makes any sense…. |

There are even major collectors that make millions per month that won't use watches out of the house because they do cost a fortune to them and it's just too risky.
I think there's a threshold definitely, over $x amount for you and your income, it's starts to get hard to justify a watch as a beater. For you, I'm glad it's the Sub. I love the watch. For me, with the 5711, while I do want to wear it, I find myself I can only do so on working hours, and just in some areas. If I need to go somewhere sketchy, I just don't wear it, and I end up planning which days I can really wear it or not, according to my activities. It sucks, but it's just is what it is. I wish the market would come back to normal. But watch bugs have infected the minds of millions of people in the last years.

I don’t really check for scratches. As long as it’s not on the glass I’m not bothered
