Cartier special order timeline?
Has anyone ordered a Cartier from an AD that was out of stock? I purchased a santos from my local AD but they were sold out and said they would order it from Cartier and estimated it should come pretty fast. It’s in stock on Cartier’s website, and this obviously isn’t a Rolex situation lol. Any experience with timelines on this kind of thing?
And for those asking why I didn’t just buy it from Cartier where it’s in stock, well, I have a good relationship with the AD and they did negotiate. |

When I bought my Santos back in the Fall, my AD told me it would be a two month wait, which was surprising because it appeared to be in stock on Cartier's website. I called Cartier to clarify and they said that, although they had it listed as 'in stock' on their site, they couldn't guarantee the order would ship right away. They actually said to expect 4-6 weeks. So being 'in stock' on Cartier's site might not mean ready to ship, it might just mean available to be ordered.
Ultimately, the watch ended up arriving in about 3 weeks through my AD though. I also ordered a leather strap for my Santos through my AD and that took 3 months! So it really seems to be a crapshoot. Sorry I can't be of more help in giving you a definitive timeline, but at least wanted to share my experience. |

Cartier's inventory system is garbage. Items appear and disappear online all the time so you can't trust their website on what's in stock.
Also, when I bought my Tank Americain from the Cartier boutique back in September, the SA said she would get me a free brown gatorskin strap. Cartier sent the wrong strap to her (I have the old style deployant buckle while the strap was for the new style deployant) so she said she would send to me when it was ready. It's been nearly 5 months and I haven't received my strap. I've given up on ever receiving that strap. |

When I ordered a strap for my Santos, they told me 2 weeks. It took 8.
I ordered another strap and they told me it would be 6 weeks, it came in in 6 days. They have no idea at the AD. Cartier seems to be a mess with delivery. They told my AD they would have the new Solar Tank in September. Still none |

Ah thanks. I paid upfront and it’s my first time working with this AD. I trust them though, just hoping they can get the piece in a reasonable time so I can enjoy it. I’ve had my eye on it for so long and finally pulled the trigger so I’m just itching to wear it. The fact that it’s available elsewhere makes the wait even harder

Has anyone seen a new Cartier Tank Louis small gold watch anywhere in your recent travels? I know they can be had from Cartier but out of stock at local shop. I was also looking to save a few dollars from a trusted dealer on here possibly.
I was going to put a WTB post but do not have privileges yet to do that so I hope it is ok to ask. |
