What’s the deal with SD43 3235????

My goodness!! I purchased a new SD43 in 2019, ran great for like four months then needed a service. Had it serviced by certified Rolex, and it was +2 daily close about a year. Now it’s -12 a day…in just what the hell? At a full wind it slows down then after some usage it picks back up. But it’s slow when I’m wearing it, and it’s only “”barely ahead”” off my wrist face up. Next, I purchased my wife a datejust36 with the new 3235 movement and same thing! Lagging in time, amp is low. Just like Wtf? 20K for two watches that aren’t reliable for more than three days. Anyone else having the same issues?

I've had my SD43 for about 4 years and noticed it is now running slow (about 35 seconds per day). Going to send it in before my warranty runs out. So yes, having some issues. it is my first Rolex so not sure if this happens now and again for any given watch.

There is an obscenely long thread about the 32xx movement issues… i’ave had a 50% hit rate on watches with issues… it’s a big shame.

Sd43 bought new right when it came out - May 2017. Sent it back in 2020. Had slowed to over a minute per day. Now it is acting erratic again and I can’t tell if I’m losing my mind. Like the OP said I wind fully and in 3 hours it is slow by 8 seconds. Then check next day and slow by 3 seconds, so as it unwinds it is speeding up. Then next day or two after some wear it is slow by 30 seconds. I need to send back a second time before the warranty expires.

Same deal on mine. Jan 2018 sale date. Running 10-11 sec/day slow now. I'm going to send it in sometime this year before the warranty runs out.

Is there data (informal or not) that shows that this is something affecting a certain percentage? I don't see any significant time gain/loss on my SD43 (2021 with the 3235). But then again, I haven't attempted to se what the +/- is. Appreciate the thread. I'll keep an eye on mine so I can make sure it's running as should (or not).

Well to be fair my 3135 is slow in 5 positions and 0 in one so they’re far from perfectly regulated sometimes for actual wear.

And my DJ41 is typically a few slow per day.

Being slow is not necessarily the issue.
It's the declining accuracy that's the worry in this case, but it's symptomatic of a bigger problem.

I had an SD43 last year, it was an hour fast everyday. I took it to my ad and he changed the battery and then it started keeping perfect time.

A good outcome by any measure
You've got to hand it to those Rolex folks. Normally a Quartz watch will stop when the battery gets "a bit how ya goin".
But those clever people at Rolex seem to have worked out a different solution so one can never be late again

I wonder if they've patented this new function and whacked a proprietary name on it?

Me neither; guess I need to read the manual.

You purchased an SD over four years ago and have never worn it? Can I ask why?

Well, can’t be too clever. Each day that goes by I become later and later on this model. Eventually, I just won’t show up at all! :)

My 2020 has been within spec so far. Absolutely love the watch - one of my favorites. That being said this is a bad look for Rolex. The 32xx issues seem to be piling up and the BB GMT date disc thing was a total debacle.

Speeding up as PR starts to deplete in and of itself is normal, but the sheer inaccuracy and huge variances are the problem.

Good question in which I have no answer for. I guess the last couple of years working from home didn't help. I probably only wore a watch a handful of times in those two years. But, I will get it out as it deserves wrist time.

My 2020 had to go back to service centre last year. It would not hold charge as long as it should and timekeeping seemed less accurate than it should have been too.
They said the movement needed lubrication, so a movement service and back to me and been fine since.
Who knows what really was the issue or if they in fact put a new movement in!
The watch is amazing and a keeper for me.
