Is Fluted Bezel worth 2000$ more on Datejust compare to Smooth Bezel?

I know it is Classic, but it is Pop enough to cost 2000$ more for a Steel Datejust 41 from AD to get the fluted bezel compare to the smooth ?

Depends. Do you like the look, and how do you feel about a white gold bezel (primary reason for price difference)?

I don't care if it is gold

Just the price is SO MUCH difference (more than 20% of a Datejust)

And with the replace cost of Smooth is only about 200$, everytime we service the watch, we can replace the smooth bezel I think ??

Seems like you’ve answered the question for yourself.

The Smooth bezel looks dull compared to Fluted. Fluted also does a stunning reflection on the ceiling of my car in the morning, that I try to shoot the smoke of my cigar into

Worth the difference in my opinion

Love it

You have to get the flutes on a DJ. It's the main event.

DJ's look naked without the fluted bezel. Not a fan of the smooth at all.

Agree on YG/RG TT for sure. Stainless, it depends on the configuration. I will say I prefer the fluted on 41mm stainless, because the smooth just looks too wide.

Worth is a subjective term. One man’s trash is another’s treasure. If you’re asking what looks better, the answer is only you can decide. IMO the fluted bezel on a DJ is iconic! Is there really anything that screams Rolex louder than that?

I wouldn’t get a non-fluted DJ. I have an OP for a more casual, low-profile look and the DJ feels a little awkward to me without the fluting.

I just was lucky enough to get a blue dial DJ41 smooth and Oyster… for me at my age it looks and feels correct. When I see the fluted and Jubilee I enter boomer territory. So for this Gen Xer I go smooth!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am sure I would also enjoy the fluted and maybe will someday!

It's all about personal preference. I simply prefer the look of fluted and appreciate that it hides scratches and smudges better than the smooth bezel.

Agreed! I think one day I would like a day date and that will be my fluted bezel! :-) enjoy yours in good health!

I prefer fluted. More classic. More light play. Less scratches.

The flutter bezel is special — it shines in a really pleasant way that steel just can’t.

Stamped sheet metal versus solid gold, there is always going to be a cost difference.

It's up to the individual if they want to pay the higher price, or even if they like the looks of one over the other.

Price variances don't always make sense.

Fluted pops more and shows less dings/scratches.

I personally would pay a bit more for a smooth bezel. The fluted bezel is among the Rolex features that I don’t like at all (together with the cyclops, use of yellow gold, and the jubilee style bracelet). So no Datejust for me….
