Holiday purchases are possible

On holiday in Austria last week, skiing, and was approached by a fellow English guest from the hotel, he was on holiday with his son, I was with a group of lads. He came straight to the point, and said ' I want to buy your watch, name your price and if acceptable money will be in your bank a/c within two hours. I was wearing my 116710 GMT, which I had thought about selling, but just hadn't got round to posting it for sale on here.

Being a WIS and a regular on here, I roughly knew its value, but I checked on Chrono 24, and a couple of my favourite sites, and told him a figure. Without hesitation he agreed my price, took my bank details. When I checked my a/c and the money had arrived, I swiftly transfered it to another A/c and handed him the watch. This whole episode took place over a long lunch.

Talking to him after the deal was done, he explained that he wanted a Rolex GMT, as he owned a 34mm Air King from the 80's which he felt was too small, and the Brietling he was wearing was a 'stop gap' He thought I looked an honest sort of fellow, and was not concerned that the watch was fake as he had seen me swimming in the hotel pool, and in the sauna and steam room with it on, and was willing to take the risk.

I have now posted the box and papers to him. Happy days for me as I bought the watch at a very reasonable price before everything went mad, and although it was a lovely watch, it was not my favorite, and I got a hassle free sale, which has got to be a bonus when you read some horror stories on here! I am now on the look out for my next purchase a 16570.

I thought this was going to end up with someone waking up the next the day feeling groggy, with a pain in the backside.

You would think he would visit a Rolex AD instead of this indecent proposal style arrangement, to a bloke in the sauna. I would have just run and never looked back. A tall story indeed.
