AD Relationship After SS Daytona

I got my SS Daytona from my AD about a year ago…since then, we’ve have a lot of good conversation, but no watches…at least for me. They sourced me a SS sub date for my little brother for his college graduation within a couple weeks, but anything I ask for it seems like it’s never going to happen since I got the SS Daytona?

They know I want a skydweller and GMT - with emphasis on CHNR when I tried on multiple times.

Who else has been shut down by their AD post 116500?

Got mine in 2018 and haven’t gotten another watch since. Given I haven’t asked for much, but I have asked…

Good question.

Not a 500 but my last pickup from my A D was a 126715 and since then the faucet has been turned off. Granted I’ve only asked for a 505 or 515.

Rolex is now telling the ADs to sell to first time customers as a priority and spread the love around.

Someone else is having the same experience as me! After I got my SS Daytona Dec. 2020, I have tried to get a way “easier” Sub but I get nothing. He says he’ll do it but then I don’t get the call. I have even purchased 3 easy to get Breitlings since the Daytona, but I guess I haven’t hit that magic dollar amount that allows me another SS Rolex….

Is your AD a Rolex only AD?

trying really hard to shed a tear for those complaining they've got themselves a Daytona, but not a second or third desirable model after that....

Maybe your AD has other customers who also would like a watch ?

They can't dictate to ADs who they sell the watches to. Rolex has no power over the ADs.

Are you looking for a 2 tone CHNR or full rose? I would think they would be able to fill the 2 tone quick.

I have stopped bothering buying a new Rolex from an AD,
I am looking at used Rolex watches only in watch shows and from private buyers.

After I got a 116500 black I was offered a Blue Sky Dweller jubilee which I bought and a Sub date 41 which I bought. No lockout here but at this stage there's not much I really want left. I asked for a Meteorite Daytona and he giggled a bit. Wanted a blue 36 OP for my wife and he said he's trying but hasn't seen it yet....if he did it would be mine.....etc. I'm not complaining that's for sure.

No, I just want a plain SS Sub date, I bet they get one per week of those. I already have a SS DSSD Blue, and SD43 so want to complete my diver collection. I’m just surprised he’s taken this long.

So my AD has other brands and since I’m a non discriminating watch guy, I like other brand and buy often from him, right out of the case. But I do feel that ever since I got my Daytona just over a year ago, he doesn’t want to talk about Rolex as much and is holding back.

LOL, there’s always someone “worse off” who cries. Look at you, on a “Rolex” forum talking about luxury items when people in other countries are starving. I bet they say the same thing about you. So where does it stop? Just with you? You are the righteous one? Lol

If they offered you a Daytona and then also got you a Sub on short notice, I have to believe that they probably highly value your business and that you will probably be offered other watches in the future. At the current moment they might just be trying to spread their available watches to other customers who did not get the Daytona that you did, as they probably also wish to have business relations with some of these customers as well.

I received a 500 in the summer of 2020. Nothing since, they did offer me a 5chnr after they told they might not be able to get one for a year. I sourced one from David and 3 weeks after my initial inquiry the AD said they would like to offer me one. I declined and haven't heard anything since. I can't even get a tudor chrono out of them.

5 years ago AD’s would reward high volume buyers with a continuing stream of watches which was smart business at the time. Since then demand for their watches skyrocketed and they can sell each piece before it even hits the case. It no longer is the best business model to do that and alienate tons of new clients. Why not spread the pieces to as many new customers as possible and gain new clients? Many of those previous whales rotate their collections and sell off watches too so it can’t be all about avoiding flipping. If I was offered the 1 watch I have been waiting years for I surely wouldn’t flip it.
