ss daytona grey prices falling .time to buy?

Ive noticed how prices have been dropping a lot on the second hand market.Perhaps the ss daytona is becoming more readily avaliable with production increases?
As a panerai (pam 24) owner Im relatively content but am finding it difficult to be rolex free.Ive owned several different model rolexes in the past and am getting the urge to buy again.Would now be a good time to buy a ss daytona ?is the current avaliability likely to be a short term thing?

Wit the economy not recovering any time soon, I'm waiting until it drops further. I want to see it where the grey dealers will "advertise" below MSRP.

I think the grey dealers only get them by paying a premium, to the official AD's, so its likely AD's will be selling more at retail first.. Its a long way to go before the grey guys are selling below retail.

Daytona prices

As someone who has followed Daytona prices for 2-3 years, the current asking prices are the lowest I have seen. I think this is the time to buy a Daytona if you love the watch and wish to enjoy owning and wearing it. If you are a flipper or investor, I have no idea of what advice to offer you.

I have already seen a few ads for SS Daytona ( unused) on this forum where the asking price is lower than the retail. have a look at the Buying/ Selling section on this forum.

Fall Baby Fall, I won't mind at all the prices slipping a little, it was the AD's and Grey Market dealers that got greedy and pumped up prices for years. Now I know some will just hold on and not sell at a loss, but again I wouldn't mind seeing the prices at at about 15% off MSRP for BNIB and used prices falling in line from there. Your thoughts could it happen?

IMHO, the prices for SS Daytonas in Singapore are steadily beginning to rise again.

Today I stopped downtown at a small jewelry store. They usually have a couple used Panerai and anywhere from 8-12 used Rolex watches in stock.

They had TWO SS Daytonas in the case--one SS white face and one SS black face for sale.

Sign of the times.

I remember when I bought the LV, there were waiting lists and it was difficult to get one at MSRP. Now you can get one at a discount from the AD. I would like to see the same thing happen to the SS Daytona.

Is this an AD? If so, please post the name, got a buddy who's trying to locate it through one.

I don't think there will be any discounting on ss daytona anytime soon.

The ss daytona still is the most sought after watch.

No, they were used but appeared to be in great shape--at least the white. I couldn't seen the black too well because of shadows.

I was offered a BNIB V serial white face for 8 grand today. Just bought a YM and didn't feel like spending the money, not sure if I made the right move or not... Waiting for the new 2-tone sub to come out!

Oh really.

I don't know which is harder to believe. That you can get a BNIB V Serial White Dial SS Daytona for 8 grand or that you passed on it.

Got a call from my trusted AD

they had 2 Daytonas that just came in. One white and one black. I was told that they called their most valuable clients first and NONE wanted the watches. So then they called me ( last year I was told I would have to wait 3+ years to get one ). MSRP + tax for each one. I refused, and those Daytonas sat, and sat in their safes. A month went by, they called again, this time offer me MSRP out the door for each. I countered $17500.00 for both, and ended up paying $18K out the door for both of them.

Congrats! I think you did well.

It will be interesting to see if the availability continues to rise and the prices continue to fall.

Yes I would.

The UK market is totally different to that of the US.

Check prices of Grey dealers like Blowers, Dream watches BJS Online etc and you will notice prices are anything but falling.

You will certainly get a better deal in the US, however, if you are planning on shipping a Rolex from there to the UK, be mindful of TAX, Import duty and problems experienced by some buyers, when importing Rolex from the USA to the EU (Worst case scenario - seizure)

If you can find a really good deal, I would consider flying over and bringing one back - cheap flights and all!

The lowest I have paid this year (so far)
...for a steel Daytona 116520 Rolex Movement
New in dollars $9150.-
In Euro 7.000
Used in Dollars $7,200
In Euro 6,000

Prices are going up as demand is strong and supply is short.
If you like the watch pay what seems a reasonable price to you
and stop worrying about the ultimate lowest price possible.

No!! I would get your name on the list with a couple of independent AD's and in a couple of months hey presto!!! They are becoming more available because people are not buying to flip as much as the grey market are offering so close to list. Sit tight and it will come sooner than you think.

IMHO it will never happen with Daytona's in the UK. I can see dealers having them in the window at some point soon though. Let's be fair every other model is now seen in the window on a regular basis although they don't sit there long.
