Have to agree but many of todays Rolex owners there physical world is what ever so called social media or the likes of YouTube dictates.As many have lost the use of there brains to think for themselves. And rely on the like of YouTube and the likes and believe every thing they see there, then repeat it like parrots around the net.

Rolex nicknames seem to be an American thing...mostly US comic characters or sodas.

I’m not so sure about that. Those comic characters and sodas might be from the US but they are most certainly international brands. Also, the walkie-talkie was invented in North America, and that didn’t prevent the British from nicknaming one of their buildings the walkie-talkie.

How does making up or using a nickname cause you to lose the ability to think for yourself? In this case it seems Sprite was the original from whatever but Riddler and green Lantern was made up from others after release. So this YouTube guy actually is following others in the naming convention.
The act of making up nicknames for objects is a very common thing. Not just watches. It's a creative outlet to give more tangible human qualities to objects we care about.
If you object to using nicknames on watches you can simply not reply to the thread. Others here seem to use all kinds of nicknames that I can see.

I found it funny that 2 nicknames that were possibly created in a thread in here made it on a watch YouTube channel. And I thought some would enjoy this fact.

I think what Peter was getting at was folks currently rely on YouTubers to make up their minds for them, and not just the nicknames themselves.

He has a point. Many of these YouTube personalities speak from a place of authority, rather than their actual place.... an opinion. Though, many have a lot of experience in the hobby/industry that can make them informative. Though, it takes a lot of active listening and sifting through the BS and biased opinions.

I am a fan of a few channels myself. When I'm researching a model, I like to see them in the hands of reviewers, so I can see them on wrist. Not too interested in the backstories and why I "have to have it".

As a Londoner I can say that the nicknames on modern high rise buildings is a form of ridicule of their design. The most obvious is the Ghergin where I understand it is written into the office lease that the name must not be used whatsoever in anyway in the building or in print.
Perhaps stateside building design is more traditional.

Those youtube dealers are only speculating, come on now. They have no authority, all they want to do is line their own pockets.

What do they truly offer? Nothing. The only good reviewer is the WatchAdvisor who does honest and good reviews and says what is good and/or wrong with certain watches and designs (clasp issue on a Zenith leather strap).

Peter is pretty bluntly consistent, IMO.

You do have a point about the "should I get this/that watch". People here are generally more polite (mostly). People should think for themselves. However, some may already know but need a nudge. Getting the opinion of those in a game for longer who may have made the same decision years ago can be of value.

I wouldn't call them brainless, although such enquiries strike me as dumb.

I'd be more inclined to call them people who don't know what they want, should not ask strangers, and should save their money until they see something that they really want so much that they don't have to ask strangers if they want it.
