Another trade debate....2 Daytona's for 1 Out of this world GMT....
Ok another debate on the table, would you trade my 2 Daytona's, 116515 pink dial (black outlines are indices), and 116500 black dial ceramic stainless +10K cash for a Meteorite GMT?
Little background. I do love both the Daytona's and really enjoy wearing them. My thought process being that eventually I would like to have the white dial stainless and potentially a different full rose or maybe YG Daytona. Don't get me wrong the Oysterflex is superb, just not sure it would be my ultimate favorite dial combo if I had a choice to pick from all the offerings. The GMT Meteorite is definitely on my grail list and one I would love to get someday from the AD, but as we all know, you never know. |

I understand the draw to the GMT Met but this deal doesn't look to work in your favor moneywise.
As the saying goes, buy what you like and you will always be satisfied. |

Yikes. Grey is brutal.
I think I actually prefer the blue dial WG GMT to meteorite. Aaanyway... Buy what you like, but jeez that's a beating. |

I would try to renegotiate the difference. I assume you are trading with a grey, etc. and therefore won't get full market value for your trades, but I would say that deal isn't really a good deal in general.

Not a fan of overhyped, no date, cluttered dial Daytonas and the BLRO Meteorite is my grail; so yes, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

That would be a hard NO from me - 2 great watches plus cash just seems like a bad deal

That's a thinker. I own a white 116500 and gmt meteorite and each serves its purpose in wear. I'm not going to speak about the values of the trade, but if you're sure you will get another daytona, then I'd lean towards the deal. The gmt is THAT good! However, if you are unsure if you'll ever get the white daytona... I honestly would keep what you have or at least one and add more cash. No wrong decisions here but hope that helps!

You shouldn't have to add cash to that. 2 for 1 straight up is fair.

I wouldn't add the cash on top if you can. Maybe 3k max.

Never but I also can’t stand and will never understand the meteorite dial.

The BLRO meteorite is way, way, way more special than a Daytona, IMHO, so yes. That watch is next level.
I'd definitely try to negotiate a bit more. |

I stand 100% behind Stan on this one! Possibly my least favorite Rolex model (Daytona) for my grail watch of all time the Rolex GMT Meteorite. Yes!

You clearly want the GMT I say go for it, your financial situation and everybody else’s are different so that part you have to work out on your own, if losing a few k in a trade deal to get what you want may be insignificant.
I own the GMT and can say it’s a spectacular watch - completely different ballpark from a steel Daytona, and infinitely rarer to come by. I have also owned a 116515, which I traded away towards a platinum Daytona a long time ago (note* it’s now worth more than double what I sold it for) absolutely no regrets. Personally the negotiator in me would be trying to maybe half the amount of cash you’re laying on the table, it’s not a bad deal and as I said a few k may be insignificant to you. Good luck with your decision. *** edit - also if you bought your Daytona at retail which you didn’t disclose , would make this deal a total no brainer for me. |

Since you already have owned two Daytonas, you had your time with them and if it's time for a change, then change it and get the GMT with meteorite dial. I would try to work on the $10K. If you bought those two Daytonas from an AD at MSRP, then you may have some chance of getting a meteorite dial GMT someday. If you are happy with the trade in value they are offering, especially if you got the Daytonas at retail then I suppose 10K is not much to add in for that GMT. Probably by the end og f the year the GMT will be worth another $10K plus and you are even again.

Thanks for all the feedback. Yes both of mine were at msrp. Wearing the oysterflex today and I do really enjoy it. But I get worried if I don’t get the meteorite gmt someday it will soon likely become discontinued and then I might never get the chance. I would hope I could get another pm Daytona at some point down the road. I also agree about bringing the cash down. I kinda hate paying any cash out of pocket as I’ve only got my watches from the AD and never purchased Grey.

I’d pass. Seems like you have a great A D. Keep trying and waiting
Hate to discuss “values” but even if you got 35k and 50k, 500/515, for 85k plus another 10k makes it to extreme IMO. But you’ve been fortunate to get both trades at MSRP so your net cost without tax is 54ish. I’d just hate to lose all that potential profit between the two for one watch.

Agreed. If I could do it straight up it would be more of a tough call. Don’t get me wrong I love Daytona’s, so I’m not a Daytona hater or anything. The wheels are just always churning of what’s possible.

The GMT meteorite is very special… if you can negotiate a trade without the cash, I would do it in a heartbeat.
