2022 New Model YG DD40 Onyx Dial

Hi guys I hope your all ok at this crazy time. I just wondered what are your opinions on the new 2022 yellow gold DD40 onyx dial with diamond baguette markers? Personally I think it’s amazing but haven’t heard much said about it?
Also do you think will be popular / hard to get from an AD?
Sorry I can’t post pics but this is the link to it on the Rolex website

The dial looks amazing. I’d love to see one in-person, and would also like on that is fully onyx without any indices or markers like in the 18038 and 18238 variants.

i might be in the minority but i think it's gonna be a lot of overpaying for basically the same dial as the sunburst black with baguettes

Yes I prefer that there are no markings on the Onyx dial compared to the previous black dial. I did have to check what the difference was in the look apart from the material but once you see it you can’t miss it! I think it will be a popular piece & probably hard to get!

I didn't realize this existed and I thought I'd seen all the models and new releases.

Also, I thought Onyx was pure black -so I learned something new about Onyx today as well.

To me, this watch is gorgeous. I'd love to have one.

It isn't pure black? Those are stone inclusions and not reflections? If so, so close...

Yeah, I googled and sure enough Onyx isn't pure black. For so many decades I thought it was Black.

"Onyx primarily refers to the parallel banded variety of the silicate mineral chalcedony. Agate and onyx are both varieties of layered chalcedony that differ only in the form of the bands: agate has curved bands and onyx has parallel bands. The colors of its bands range from black to almost every color. "

And here are the google images: https://www.google.com/search?q=onyx...&bih=732&dpr=2

Oh, that is a master piece! I have placed an order with my AD on the very first day of W&W. So far, lead time is by the end of 2022. But we shall see. This dial is destined to be the heaviest hitter! Onyx with diamonds!

I think part of what is so impressive about it is the difficulty of working with onyx. It's not the material itself that makes it more expensive. Never realized this about it until reading an article about the new RG GP Laureato w/onyx dial. Said that, strictly speaking, it wasn't considered a limited edition, but in practical terms the difficulty of making the dials would make it a small production. Now that is a gorgeous watch (no stones, which I'm not a fan of on a men's watch).

It's gorgeous and one of the hardest to get.
