Daytona 6263 "Big Red"

Today, I received one of my 'grail' pieces.......

A vintage 1978 "Big Red" Daytona with black dial and white subdials (which have over 30 years turned light cream color).

Overall, the watch is 90-95% condition with only a few scuffs on one lug. The dial and hands are 95%. The movement looks new.

The watch was serviced and polished once by Rolex Canada in 2006.

It arrived with the original box and service papers.

Please enjoy these photos.

OHH MAN! You have one heck of a collection going on. I'll have to see it one day!
That's like the godfather of all Daytonas.

And then I said it was not working.....

Now this is my last one for 2009.

Congrats man, that is a very special day you get a watch like that.

Is it 36 or 38mm wide excluding crown? A real beauty that is for sure

Thanks! It is 36 mm but 'looks' bigger IMO.

My better half wears 34 and 36 mm and I was going to give it to her if it was too small for me. But I am keeping this beauty.

I think these watches do wear a lot larger than 36mm.

I would have no problem wearing that, any day of the week
