Incomings

2022's been an eventful year for me. Not just watches, lots of other personal developments and changes.

I picked up a 116610LV for myself, to celebrate the results of my hard work. It's the "one that got away" and I decided to finally get it, it represents a lot of personal sacrifice.

After that, I picked up a tritium 16710 Coke for my father. He's always wanted a Rolex but put taking care of his family ahead of himself. He's overcome cancer and a heart attack, and he did it while caring for my mom as she dealt with her own health issues. The watch is the least I could do to show my gratitude for everything he's done for us. It's from a year that's significant to our family, it felt like a perfect fit for him.

The last incoming was kind of a surprise. I pinged my AD and asked her to keep an eye out for a pink dial OP31 or 28, for my girlfriend. I expected to wait for many months, if ever. But just two weeks later my AD sent me an email with a picture of a pink OP31 in hand, asking if I still wanted it. I was out of town visiting my parents (to give my dad his GMT, actually) and my AD was kind enough to hold the watch for me until I could get it. Now I can give it to my GF for her birthday this summer, I couldn't be happier.

Incomings

You’re a great human - well done for recognising other people’s efforts - especially your dad’s. x

The sunburst dial in pink is very nice. Nicer that photos lead you to believe. Checking out an OP in person is a necessity. You might be surprised.

Beautiful watches and what a lovely sentiment.

I particularly love your wife's OP - I recently tried on the sunburst pink and it was absolutely gorgeous.

Amazing how fortunes can change in a year. My mom's health took a turn for the worse and she passed away in October 2022. In January of this year, my dad also began to have serious health issues. I temporarily moved from Arizona to Florida, for four months. I took care of my dad, got him healthy again, sold their house, and made plans for him to join me in Arizona, then we'd ultimately move to southern California. Unfortunately, he was hospitalized the day after he arrived in Arizona. He spent a month in the hospital fighting a serious infection and unfortunately he passed away just over a week ago. I'm still in shock, his health had improved so much.

I lost both parents in a matter of months. And the girlfriend's gone, too. That's how it goes, I guess. I'm wearing my dad's GMT Coke as I type this. I don't know if I'll keep or sell it. There are a lot of bad memories attached to it.

Sorry for your loss; if the GMT brings you sad memories then would sell it
