Visited local Panerai AD yesterday.
I took several days off work and did not know what to do with myself.
So I walked in to Tappers, an AD for Panerai here in Detroit. They had most of the expensive Pams. I want to eventually buy a nice model, the one I might keep for longer than 3 months. The one I liked most were 233, 270 and 231. Those, unfortunately, dont look like they can be used like my daily TT Sub. The Sub is never removed from the wrist, ever. 233 is a manual, so I would need to wind it. What a drag 270 is so much thicker than 233, I fell in love with it, much more sculpted case. 231 is a solid gold Radiomir, and although I dont like the shape and crown of SS Radiomirs, this one rules. Huge chunk of gold. I think I'll get one of those for my 40th birthday. For right now, I decided on 219, the lefty, it has the requisite sandwich dial, and will probably hold value when I decide to upgrade. |

Keep on looking, enjoy the search and Good luck. Panerai is a wonderful watch that is unlike anything out there. I also jumped right in with a nice piece (PAM 190) I wanted to keep for the long-run and am glad I did. My next will be the 233....the perfect Panerai in so many ways!

Go for whatever you like. But keep your eyes to 233. Good luck.

Best of luck and enjoy your search.. don't let the winding up the 233 be a negative in your consideration. I wound mine up 5 days ago and the poer reserve has barealy hit the half mark. it is a pleasure to wind and it is one of the traditional charastiristics with Panerai watches...
the 219 is also a beauty... the 231 on the other hand.. is super elegant.. a stylish classic and i have my eye on it as my next addition... good luck Bill... |

Yep its a disease funny thing is I rarely wear any of those. They are not the bulk of my collection. I typically wear my 236 or DSSD. My all time favorite is my Ferrari 024 except my wife is holding it hostage for our anniversary.

Nice pic brainbizz! Awesome collection.
All are great choices. 233 - 8 Day Power Reserve for me really works... I can rotate in other watches and - it's still set when I want to wear the 233 (I wear the 233 more than any of my other PAM's) I actually love winding it - love knowing wear the reserve is at and it is an overall great piece. Tough decisions.....
