Store Credit / Gift Card Only

I just entered info to sell a Rolex to Hodinkee / Crown & Caliber and the offer back was for a store credit only. No cash offers being made at this time. I’ve never seen that before. I reached out to Bobs Watches as well and they said “ALL buying is on pause for at least 1 week while they sell through an oversupply”…

Take it for what it’s worth…. I used the depressed prices to pick up a watch I’ve been looking to buy for a while. Maybe I caught a falling knife but if it brings me joy so what. A little frustrating I can’t get a cash offer on one that I’m looking to sell though.

The same sellers and pumpers that are saying it’s a “great time to buy”. Lol.

Curious just how much stock was hoarded during the massive boom of 2020-2021 that’s just been sitting in safes waiting for prices to continue going up.

All the crypto millionaires have disappeared, as the disposable income they had evaporated.

I think that you will encounter a similar situation wherever you go. It will either be not buying at the moment or if they are buying then the offer will be lower than you expect. It's a sign of the times.

Been happening for weeks actually.

Sotheby's results auction came in today.
Some knocked it out of the park again, like the 38mm Resonance. Some took a nose dive including multiple AP's that were 30-50% below chrono24 pricing AFTER the buyer's premium.

Dealers are not buying because prices are falling rapidly. Dealers at the same urging people 'now is the time to buy'. If you are selling the best time to sell was a couple of months ago. You could try eBay and hope for uninformed buyers who still think Rolexes are 'investments'. It is only going to get worse for grey dealers and flippers. But great for us watch enthusiasts. Watches are starting to appear at ADs again.

Paid $10.6k with tax for DJ 41 Wimbledon Fluted Jubilee. Offered $11K in trade value, no cash. Turned it down.
