If this is a watch you are really interested in, then yes I would. Daytonas were never readily available at retail and before all the hype they were $16-17k on the grey market, which is around 5K over the MSRP at that time.

I would as that is still a more than fair price considering the prices they are selling for today. I have been on a waiting list for a white dial for many years and just don't have a big enough spending to get to the top of the list. If I was to divide the years on the list and not having the watch by the 5K makes it easy to rationalize. This is also a SS Daytona so values will always be strong. Just buy the watch and get it on the wrist and you wont look back.

I passed on that exact same deal on a new ceramic model a few months after they were released in 2016 in Montreal. If my memory serves me correctly out the door I was going to pay 17k-18kUS +\-, msrp at that time was less. Been wishing I had pulled the trigger ever since but at the time I thought It was a rip off and I would just wait for the hype to die down in a few months. lol

The steel variants currently are not my thing, now a PM one would catch my interest or if they add more color options for steel.

Um, yes.

The question is, who would sell one at that far-below market price?

That sounds like a great deal! The answer from me would be a huge YES! You cannot go wrong with that. Even if you didn't want it, there is a lot of equity in that watch at that price. I was wondering the same thing as jb335.....Why are they willing to sell it for so low? Pick up the phone, call DSW or any grey and they would be willing to buy it for considerably more.

Be careful! As the saying goes, If it sounds too good to be true....

No matter what the economy does, I doubt most will be able find a 116500LN readily available at an AD.

At current market prices? Yes, and would immediately sell it and reap profit. Capitalism.

This guy is drawing from experience. This is the only way to make a real opinion, sound decision. Lotta people crying the sky is falling... but lotta us would call a GMT at retail price "normal".

If you are being offered one of those at 5k over msrp, I bet there are a lot of TRF members who’d like to know where the offer is coming from!

I’d keep that knowledge to myself lol, you’d get best to the punch.

Good times, bad times. The daytona is always hard to get. So yes actually think I would if it wasn’t for my awesome AD.

I absolutely would. Have been on the waiting list for a long time, as that is my grail. I'd happily spend the $5k extra and never sell it.

Sounds too good to be true in today's market.

I'd have to have it verified that it's authentic and not stolen.

I was lucky to get mine at MSRP several years ago. Anything over MSRP there are other watches that interest me more. So for me I would pass.

Some may never get the opportunity to get one at retail. Good economy or not, that’s reality when it comes to stainless Daytonas.

No, I think in a year or two they will be at retail…or less.

Rolex is a toxic investment. Flippers and investors can no longer make money on watches. The greys are going to be out of business and have to dump their hoarded stock. And Rolex will keep churning them out.

Inflated prices have always been based on investors passing around watches among themselves and jacking up prices. Their economic model has hit the wall. They are classic bag holders.

And hype beasts, are they going to want to wear a toxic investment they paid 2-3X msrp? Imagine being the guy who paid $50k for a panda; how will he feel knowing Pandas go for $35k today, maybe $25k in a few months, and even 15k or less in a year or two. That’s like meeting someone still hoarding hand sanitizer and covid masks.

All those hoarded/investment watches will be hitting the market soon. It will start as a trickle, then as a liquidation. The only buyers will be die hard watch enthusiasts; the crowd that was here 10-15 years ago. And they are discount shoppers.

daytonas were barely available in 2008-2010. very unlikely you see them at discounts

I already have one but if I can get another one at that price, I still want to get it for my spouse. This would the first one that I purchase it from the secondary market.
