It’s getting quiet here?

Hi all. Happy Father’s Day.

Is it me or are we starting to see a slow down on the boards lately?

Perhaps it’s me, maybe it’s the “slowdown”?

I don’t know but if we get back to talking about actual watches rather than their resale value, availability issues, and flexing then quite frankly I’m all for it.

Some of us must have missed something since the above doesn’t make much sense.

But it has been more pleasant and less nasty recently.

Flippers are gone and not really any "incoming" threads from the Greys as nobody (with any common sense) is buying grey pieces right now.

TRF activity is resembling the days of old before the board became polluted with value threads. Hopefully the mods continue to shut those down.

It’s slowed down for me . There is one Rolex I want , but I don’t even feel like pushing my AD . Maybe it’s just a nice time to relax and enjoy what I have in every facet of my life .

No, we didn't. We truly do not care where prices are going as far as the Forum is concerned.

We do care about Forum decorum and a general adherence to the rules and guidelines. TRF is not, and has never been, a valuation, investment, or pricing site; its a watch discussion site. Prices have always gone up and down and will continue to do so. We will discuss such things from time-to-time as we always have, but it will not become the focus.

We generally let one, or even two, borderline threads run.. Continuous speculation and doom or gloom running amok threads need to find someplace else to rant.

I imagine it will get even quieter once the hype beasts and investors follow the flippers out.

I remember reading TRF ten or fifteen years ago. No one wanted “old” watches that were more than a few years old. There was a very small group of guys into vintage Subs - small as in a couple guys with some queer interest in James Bond. You couldn’t give away used Datejusts. No one even talked about OPs. Guys used to flex about how much of a discount they got. It was the days of small dress watches, and TRF was for serious sports watch enthusiasts.

No doom talk, just facts. The market has slowed, interest in watches is waning and a global economic “situation” will exacerbate things.

Only buy what you love! This is a niche luxury hobby, not a vehicle for investing!

Your posts were deleted because they were instigating fights for no reason. It was pretty obvious. Please don't do a "woe is me".

Same thing on YT watch channels. Feels like all the YOLO/FOMO oxygen is sucked out of this hobby. Maybe that’s a sign of some return to normal in this crazy world.
