Has it gotten any easier?

Has it gotten easier to get pieces from ADs these days? What are perceptions/experiences?

It's slowly getting there. But there's still pent up demand.

I just walk in and tell the SA what I need & I walk out with a new watch. It's just like going grocery shopping.

Took what about 2 years for all this to happen, in general should take less time with the falling market (market meaning all markets not just watches), only time will tell
Who knows the fed might be crazy and print more easy money

It really depends where one is at, I think that matters the most.

In bigger more affluent global cities with tourists storming in this summer, I think the demand is going to remain very high for some months and maybe a year or two.

My Ad told me he is currently getting 15 calls a week for GMT's and 30 calls a week for Daytona's. Getting easier for these watches, I don't think so.

When a dam starts to leak, it still takes time for all the water to flow out and reveal what's underneath.

Definitely getting easier, especially once the recession takes full swing, people are rapidly offloading inventory to reduce their cost basis per watch.

I have asked my AD about a WG Daytona on OF a few times. I used to always get a pretty solid no…and on Monday it was “it might be a while but we’ll keep you in mind”. SA said they go a little further down the list on some pieces compared to a few months ago. Some stainless pieces have seen zero change in demand (Daytona, GMT, LV Sub, SkyD) but other watches are slightly easier to get now.

I think the price difference of what you can buy it for retail versus secondary is the easiest indicator.

I mean I'm starting to see watches being sold on dealer networks for under retail, mostly two tone and PM pieces. If that continues, at the very least, the higher end stuff will end up at showrooms instead of being sold out the back door.

Changing slowly....Backlogs first I would guess. Getting offers of things "Not exactly what I wanted" etc....

But better and more communications.

I went into my AD this afternoon to buy another Tudor Black Bay and there were literally only five Rolex on display in the window. None were for sale as they need to have something in the massive display windows. Ten years ago the same AD had numerous Rolex sport models for sale, including Explorer II, Submariner LV and GMT II. This is either because Rolex are playing a rather dangerous game, or the Internet has bread too many grey dealers and speculators, meaning demand will always outstrip supply. Very sad but at least we have Tudor.
