The bubble burst is official in the secondary market but it doesn't make hot models easier to get at retail price as demand is still strong.

Nearly one million Rolex produced annually described as an “alternate asset class.” Haha.

At least with it being Bloomberg you know it's a business story from someone with credentials - as opposed to all the stuff from various people (YT etc) with a vested interest.

I thought it was a good article.

Some paid more for that 'love' than necessary

Not sure a lot of TRF’ers learned a lot not already known. Just info reaching the non-cognoscenti.

Interesting read. I did find those price graphs pretty far off from reality. Also, interesting to note that this was an opinion piece. Thanks for sharing!

Although the black dial Daytona is more like at 33K, not 44K. The drop is steeper.

They're probably lower. They are sitting unsold at 31-32k. Saw a 2017 white dial sell on Moda for $30,900 today. It was well worn but that feels like a new low. Can only imagine what these are trading for in true wholesale venues. Heard $26k a few weeks ago for a black dial and who knows what now.

Let's hope all those peripheral models that got hyped up in the frenzy like the PP 3800 and AP 14790 all come down to their pre-Covid prices.

The sky is falling, or so says Bloomberg, in writing a "fad of the moment" article. While prices have fallen indeed, they haven't gone down that much so far according to the graphs. Although some pointed out, the prices might not be that high as of today. Still, what does this mean? That buying lower than MSRP is just around the corner? And Rolex AD cases will be overflowing again soon? At my age, I hope I live long enough to see it.

I see this current situation as a correction but not a long-lasting trend. I see prices stablizing. I don't see the kind of hype we saw in the past few years returning soon. On the other hand, with so many more consumers in all parts of the world these days seeking Rolex watches, there are still far more seekers than watches, especially for popular models. The global market is no longer the 1st world consumers, i.e., NA and Europe who were the backbone buyers years ago. IMHO, there will still be a trickle effect when it comes to buying Rolexes at ADs and the grays who know how to do business right will still continue to exist side by side ADs.
