New Potential Buyer Experience
So I've stopped by my local AP Boutique in Beverly Hills a couple of times now. First time was 4month ago and the second more recently. I had inquired about the "lists" for the Jumbo and other watches.
Understandably, they will not even consider putting your name down for a Jumbo without previous purchase history. They really wanted you to at least consider a less popular piece first, especially the Code 11.59 (which is not something that I like or that fits my wrist) or a lady's piece. So I did put my name on the list for the 37mm Royal Oak and the 38mm Royal Oak Chronograph. Apparently those are "realistic" per the sales associate. I have a relatively small wrist so the 41mm's are out of the question, and I'm not even sure a Jumbo is ideal. The whole process with AP is interesting as they really want a resume of your interests, philanthropic work, career, and current watch collection when submitting your requests. Has this been the experience of others? How realistic is it to get the previously mentioned pieces without a purchase history. |

Unless you have some connections, a 37mm 50th anniversary is impossible.
38mm RO chrono is difficult too. |

Congrats on joining the waitlist
Again though, without previous purchase history, it could take 2 years or more to get allocated a 37/38mm |

Definitely not surprised by this. I'm in no rush. I'm just hoping with AP Boutiques, the process is better controlled than Rolex AD's.

getting jumbo is going to be very difficult as this requires all regional office for approval.

They want to know about you because they need to pitch you to management for any kind of allocation.
AP wants wealthier clients that can buy multiple pieces |

0.0% chance on a jumbo. I say you have a long wait for the 38mm. I own a few APs that are registered and still had to jump through the hopes and still am not getting an allocation because I bought all mine from ADs before AP boutiques were around. Good Luck!

Normal process for AP. Since most boutiques are AP owned, they are able to control the distribution channel. They want to know who they are selling to. Getting a Jumbo will not be possible without history. Even then, you need multiple pieces from AP in your collection before they will consider you as it needs AP corporate approval for the Jumbo allocation.

I can assure you that even without connections, a 37mm 50th is possible if you play your cards right. If not, the wait can be long...

Do all the boutiques ask about philanthropic work? I get asking about your career, watch collection, etc...but the philanthropy question strikes me as odd as I would *never* wear a nice watch for the types of stuff I do.....
I've never had an 'interview' with a boutique yet, so just curious as wanting to make sure I'm adequately prepared whenever I go in! |

It's not so much an interview, but rather getting to know who you are. They build out a profile for you in their system during this process which is a good thing.

New Potential Buyer Experience
Keep the dream alive. First time AP customer here and after spending much more time than you for the last 2 years, I got offered a 41mm 50th RO recently. It can happen. Stay positive, be patient, be courteous and be a little more persistent than every 4 months. I will add that it was not supposed to be a 50th but there was an opening and I was called.

I can be patient. It seems like the AP is more open to new customers than maybe it's competitors.
