116500 White lost while swimming overseas

My panda Daytona fell off my wrist while swimming in the ocean overseas. I feel completely idiotic for wearing it but I didn’t want to leave it on the beach as I was wearing it all day. This is insured through HODINKEE/Chubb but I am still worried with this whole process. More details to come.

Sorry to hear. Hopefully they'll pay and you'll be able to replace it.

Sorry to hear that. How much does the insurance cover you for? How did it manage to fall off?

Sorry to hear that. I would love an update once you file a claim-lots of people say Hodinkee/Chubb is great, but I have yet to hear it from someone who's actually filed a claim.

“Wear your watch everywhere” crowd are quiet!

I know another poster made a thread about this potentially happening with a DJ and everyone jumped on him.

This thread proves that these things can happen. Good luck OP

Sure but how common?

You can also drown while swimming. Doesn’t stop people from swimming.

You can get carjacked and the miscreant also takes you watch. Doesn’t stop people from wearing a watch while driving.

I have a short list of things to avoid because cleanup is a chore, such a shoveling manure.

But only way to avoid risk of damage or loss is to keep it locked in a vault.

Clasp is not fully closed, it falls off.

Sized way too loose, it slips off.

Spring bar pops, it falls off.

Anyway, this is what insurance is for.

Much better than being mugged.

Link screws can back out if loctite isn’t used. Happen often.

I don’t know but that’s why dive watches have safety clasps; even the Daytona. Which is why I found the other thread about the DJ quite justified as it doesn’t have a safety clasp

Sorry about your misfortune. Hindsight is always 20/20 in these events. Hope your insurance sorts everything out.

Not sure how it could have fallen off, but rest assured Chubb is as good as it gets.

Exactly….consider myself fortunate enough that this loss isn’t comparable to other ones we’ve seen lately.

So what? People lose their money, wallet, credit cards all the time. Are you saying never to bring these along when you are out and about? Gotta live your life.
