Oysterflex size query

I'm looking to buy a friend's 2020 Yachtmaster ref 126655 in rose gold. He has Oysterflex size E fitted on both ends and wears it adjusted bang in the middle setting of the glidelock clasp.

My wrists are smaller than his and as such have it on my wrist presently with it set to the 2nd last notch. Although it fits fine I'm finding the clasp a little off centre towards the long side.

My question is if I swap the 6 o'clock side to a size D, which would effectively shorten the whole bracelet but would shift the clasp over to the short side, would there be enough adjustment to manoeuvre. I'd like to have at least 2 notches left over to adjust for wrist expansion.

Your wrist sounds like it’s around 6.5 inches?

Im 6.5 inches and was d f with the glidelock set to second most inner but more importantly with the clasp centred. D f is the same as 4 links and 6 and twelve. If you go d e you’re taking a link out effectively so you’ll be at the outer end of the glidelock.

I have a smaller wrist and E & E worked for me on my YM. You might need to go up one size if you want to utilize the glidelock on those hot days. However the only way to know is by actually trying it out

OK I pulled the trigger on the purchase. Looks like D and F might be the best way to go. Now a trip to the AD looks to be forthcoming. I read in a previous thread that Rolex will only sell the Oysterflex on an exchange basis which kinda sucks, if that's still the case then do ADs have the facility to try on the different variations before I commit to buy?

A quick wristie of the the watch.

Depends on the AD and if they even have the straps in stock.

Also before handing the watch over be sure they are capable of doing the change without damaging the watch. My 126655 had lug nicks from both the AD and Syd RSC... if you do a forum search you'll find that this has happened to a few of us. They're super hard to change it seems.

Also congrats, I feel this is the best watch Rolex makes in many ways:

the smooth case, legible dial, ceramic bezel, glidelock. Wear in good health.

What amanbra has said. Make sure whoever installs the OF bracelet they take precaution to not scratch up the lugs. I recommend taking before close up pictures of each lug both front and back before handing it over for them to install. Just my 2 cents.

Congratulations! I have this watch with D&F on 6.75” wrist. One thing to consider is that I’ve found that I really don’t need to adjust mine like I do with my steel Rolexes. I would visit the AD and see what your options are. They have a measurement tool for fitting OF.
You made a great choice as it’s one of my favorites and gets a lot of wrist time!
