The Unicorn
Hello I’m Robert, I have a pocket watch in my collection with THE UNICORN on the Ratchet wheel. I would like to determine if this watch is a Rolex. I’m getting conflicting results.
It is not my intent to misrepresent this watch as a Rolex if it is not. If the is anyone the could please offer up some some good qualified information please do. I don’t know how to pos a picture, huh Thank you Robert |

Use the Go Advanced button and the manage attachments. The forum allows only relatively small image files, so you may need to crop and downsize the photos.

It wouldnt be a Rolex but there were a few watch companies that Rolex supplied movements to.
Just the same how Rolex used Zenith movements in its Daytonas

Unicorn was one of many early registered names by Hans Wilsdorf.
It was not an outside company that Rolex supplied movements to. They did not use the name for very long, and other watch companies have used the Unicorn name as well. So, would really need to see pictures of the movement and the inside of the case. |

Most "Rolex" Unicorn watches are signed "W&D" in the back just like early Rolex watches.
W&D being Wilsdorf and Davis, the two founders of Rolex. |

And I don't recall seeing "The Unicorn" on the movement.

Hi guys,
I just purchased this Unicorn from a Salvation Army thrift shop here on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. $95. It has obviously been worn every day of its life as the case and leather strap are very well worn although no serious faults. Trying to ascertain its age/is it pre 1950 and of course is it one of the rare RWC watches that were made for Australia. Any and all info is greatly welcomed. More pics are coming of the case, dial and hands. TIA Rosscoe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
