First Time buyer with Datejust question

I have found the Rolex that I want. It is the Datejust 11600 WRO.

Oyster Bracelet - Domed Bezel - Roman Numerals

My question is: Is there a difference between the M Series and the V series other than year it was produced?

I assume you mean 116200. That is the new style clasp which is the newest upgrade to the DJ along with a heaver bracelet- jubilee. No difference.

As Mike said, no differences at all. The 116200 is a fine looking watch, it'll keep you very happy

The difference is even closer than that............. Both are being produced right now... You do not know if a V is newer than an M if they are side-by-side in the case.

Why is there a different model # if they are both being produced? I thought the letter indicated the year it was being produced.

Nope, it's not related to the year it's produced. Effectively, a computer stamps cases, 999999 cases per series. Once it reaches the end, the next series begins. HOWEVER, the cases aren't necessarily used immediately, and thus you can have brand new watches being delivered to ADs with older serial letters. The serial prefix is only a rough guide.

If the model number (i.e. 116200) and the bracelet reference hasn't changed, then the watch hasn't changed.

Thanks for all your help. I am dealing with a Grey Dealer that has both the M and V and I was pretty adamant about the V vs the M. I was told they are the same thing. Thanks for all the input.

Do you have any experience on what the discount on this watch brand new from a grey dealer should be?
