Should I sell my new watch ???
Good day everyone !
I'm in a bit of an unusual bind here. A little background on my watch history first. I bought a new Omega "Bond" seamaster in 2005 (the 2531.80), and LOVE it to death (I still have this watch). About 3 months ago (actually, ever since the new Planet Ocean came out), I've always wanted a Planet Ocean. Keeping in mind, the only time I've seen one is through the internet photos, here on TRF, etc. never in the flesh. Well, about two weeks ago I finally bit the bullet, and bought a new Planet Ocean (the 45.5MM one), and, throughout MUCH decision making about getting it in the first place, I'm wondering if it's the "right watch for me"? I don't know, it's difficult to explain, the PO just doesn't "sing" to me nearly as much as my "older" 2531.80 does, and this one costs nearly twice as much. True, it has the new Co-Axial movement, new bracelet, etc. but for some reason the watch isn't creating as much excitement as I thought it would. To me, my older Bond watch has a much better looking bracelet, the "wave" designed dial, it just makes the watch IMO, and the PO has none of that (then again, I knew this before I bought it). Sorry for the long post, but I figured I'd ask all my friends here on what would you do if you were in the same situation ?? Sell it, trade it, or just keep it and be happy ? As a side note, I've ALWAYS wanted another Rolex (since I sold my SS Sub date back in 2002) but can not quite afford a $5,000+ watch at the moment. Anyway, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated ! |

Hi Mike,
Seems to me that your original decision to buy the PO was not taken lightly and you might just need a little time to get past the 'new watch purchase' syndrome. Give the new PO a chance, I don't think a few months will make much difference to the equation but time might give you the answer.

Mike, I also agree with Eddie. Give it some time. I definitely can relate as I've experienced a bit of buyer's remorse on more than one occasion. Wait a while and see if you warm up to it. If not, move it on.

The PO is a nice watch with some fine features. I would wait and hope it grows on you--especially since you will take a huge hit trying to resell it.

Do you have a Rolex currently? Your signature suggests maybe not. If that is the case, have a massive firesale and get one.

...if after some time the watch still is not "really" talking to you, I would sell it.

If you don't love the watch, then I would sell or trade it for another watch that you will love and want to wear everyday!!
