Birth year Sub! 1984

(Re-Posted this on vintage thread)

Got my first “vintage” submariner, birth year 1984 model. 16800, (Non gold sub surrounds)

The clasp won’t engage and and the flap is loose as well. The extension won’t “pop” in place and stay.

Is this something I can change fairly easy without damaging the integrity of the watch? I absolutely love it- just want to make this wearable!

Trying to determine the best way to fix it?

I don’t have mine at the moment to show you but I was just told by Rik, the guy fixing mine that you slightly bend the blades of the “opening part of the bracelet” (my words not his) towards the watch and bracelet. I admitted I used pliers and he scolded me. So, DO NOT USE PLIERS!!

Take this advice at your own expense, I’m just relaying what I was told when I just brought my 16613LB in for service last Friday (after I told him I used needle nose pliers the last time) he showed me the correct way.

It’s an easy fix.

You could easily remove one link and use the micro adjustment to get the correct fit.

You can adjust the blade (a little goes a long way) and wear it as is. DO NOT use pliers as said above. You can get it sorted!
