Watch Cases/Boxes

Hello all,

First post on forums. I have recently gotten into horology and mechanical watches. I purchased my first Rolex from an AD (Explorer II Polar). I am in the hunt for a few more watches and am wondering how you all store your watches.

Do you keep them in their original box?

Do you have them in winders?

Do you have a large watch box or watch display case?

I was thinking of a nice wooden and glass case on my dresser so I can see them everyday. Thoughts and recommendations on watch storage?

I wear them in rotation. When I'm not wearing one, I toss it in a drawer with the rest of them. Seems to work fine.

I keep them in a small Pelican case. When I take an extra one when I travel (to family), I have a watch pod in the bag. Nothing fancy.

I would think using the Rolex box would wear it out quickly. I recommend Bosphorus Leather. Pricey, but worth it. I have the case for 15 watches, and plan to get one of their trunks someday.

I prefer them in a watch leather roll. Easy access for me rather than pulling the watches out (or vice-versa) individually from the boxes.

The best advice I can give you as a new "collector" is stop and take a deep breath and enjoy your new Explorer and not worry about adding anything for a while.
You bought what is by any objective standard an expensive fine timepiece, don't shortchange your bonding with it by focusing on the next one.

Welcome to the forum.

I used to keep my watches in a 3 watch Watch Winder …

Now I own more than 3 watches, so I have some in the Watch Winder, some in a Leather Roll, and some in their Rolex Boxes …

= a pain in the behind …

so, I bought a Watch Box, where I can keep all my watches together …

LOVE IT !!!!

I think these watch protection cases are pretty much as good as it gets at a sensible price. Not sure if they ship internationally.

I bought the one watch Peli case for traveling about town, if I’m ever feeling unsure or unsafe watch gets put away in the case and fits perfectly in my little sling bag.

Actually I just mentioned this in another thread today, because the case is quite chunky it’s less likely to get lost or get misplaced as opposed to those little watch pouches.

Thank you all for the replies. I ended up purchasing a 6 watch box. I want to keep my box and papers in great condition and winders seem hit or miss.

I have mine wrapped in a microfiber cloth inside a ziplock bag….since that’s the only way it would fit safely in my bank’s safe deposit box. I do have a nice goyard box though at home…..which currently sits empty while I travel

This is a common question that comes up every so often.

My advice: don’t sweat the small stuff, wear your watch and move on with your life.

For storage, I find these cases (from Amazon or eBay) do the trick:

Paris is not a great place to wave your watch around. That spot on the Trocadero is well stocked with cunning young men and women who stand ready to liberate your valuables.
