Would you wait for Submariner or buy the Yacht Master?
Hello everyone,
I have been on the waitlist for 8-8.5 half months now for Submariner (No Date) . Recently on the AD, SA showed me the Yacht Master (126622-0001) and told me that it'll be easier to get compared to Submariner. I like the watch, how it wears and all and would like to purchase it. But per AD's waitlist rules, I can only be signed up for 1 sports model at give time. When trying the both exhibition models side by side, I felt more close Submariner but the more I look the YM pictures, I appreciate it even more So my questions is, shall I burn my 8 month wait time and get in the list for YM or continue the wait on Submariner and upon arrival, order the YM? Any ideas... Thanks |

Wait and get what you want, you will always regret it. Unless you can do both.

Wait for the submariner as it’s the one you want. Glidelock clasp much better as well

I would continue to wait on the Sub, personally. Plus, the YM could be gotten at a decent price on grey, with prices continuing to fall.

Concur 100% The only way I would consider it is if I could get the YM “immediately”(< 3 weeks) and get back on the list for a Sub. I love the yacht master. So, there’s that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Buy what you want, you’ll be much happier, and it’s much cheaper in the long run

Looks like OP is joining the ever growing band of people who have discovered the beauty of the YM - I admit I’m late to the party as well.
I only appreciated the YM once I had handled one at a recent visit to my AD, as opposed to seeing photographs of one. |

Get the one you really want (unless you ultimately want both) - otherwise you will keep thinking of the other one - seems like the Sub is the one you really are longing (more) for

Thanks for all the replies TRF members :)
I am leaning towards keeping everything as is and go for YM the moment I get my hands on Submariner; as the waitlist of YM will not hurt like it does on Submariner. I am thinking that I want the Submariner to be my first Rolex starting my collection journey but I'll be wearing the YM more eventually :D |

Always go for the first choice. The market is coming down, you should be able to get it soon.
For me YM is dressier version of Sub., I love both and have both of them.

You went on the list for a Submariner, not "any Rolex"

I agree with other forum members here. Wait for the Sub if that's what you really want, unless you start prefering the YM. I personally prefer the YM but I'm in a minority. I own both.

Your not alone, I also prefer the YM40. I think it's the only Rolex left that doesn't have a flat case bottom. YM40 lugs actually curve down to hug your wrist.

It's up to you.
Personally, I have never warmed up to the Yachtmaster so it would be a hard pass. Some folks prefer it though... for those there is no wrong decision.

Personally, I’d wait. Not because the alternative is inferior but know I won’t be satisfied unless I get what I want.

The YM wears better than the Sub in my view - so much more comfortable but the sub is the icon so it depends what is more important to you.

Wait for sub. Yachtmaster I think wears better but sub can take a beating. If you are one of those that are rough with watches and you do not like big scratches the platinum jezek
On yachtmaster gets messed up quick the sub Bezel can really take a beating |

I'd go try the Yachmaster on and see if you feel the same about it as you do the sub. If you don't get that certain amazing feeling when you try it on, I would pass on it and wait for the Submariner.

wait.
i don’t think you will like the YM if you really want a sub. the only thing those two watches have in common in my opinion is that they’re water resistant. lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would wait for the SubC-41.
If you also like the YM, go signup in another AD. |

I personal think the YM is a better version then a standard Sub. I’d take a blusey or a Starbucks over a YM though.

Similar experience. I wanted a LV and, shortly after putting in the request for it, I was offered the exact same blue dial YM. I passed on it with little thought because it’s not what I wanted but felt regret not buying it about a month later. Several months later got the call for the LV. I’m glad I waited and I have no desire for the YM. It is a niece piece though.
