AD Orders
When do ADs typically expect or place orders with Rolex?
I’ve seen a few members mentioned they ordered a desired watch… how? Maybe it’s me :-) I’ve only been offered the option to order undesirable models and usually it’s the AD reaching out to me to let me know it would be possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I believe the word "order" is used loosely- the proper term should be expressed interest. Just speaking from personal experience with my AD

My AD said that they were currently not able to place orders like they used to.

I did the day after WW’s 21 back when you still could. Order was called in by AD, order was taken by Rolex, a sales receipt was written and deposit was given.
I still not yet received that “ordered” reference. |

Yeah, my AD doesn’t accept orders, deposits, or prayers for anything Rolex/Tudor related. You only get called on those, and slightly quicker if you’ve gotten a couple of those “undesirables”.

Yeah - the AD's I have spoken to in the USA and Canada are saying that these days, they cannot place a specific order to Rolex for a specific watch and hence they don't take orders from clients. A common theme too is that they all say they have no idea what is the shipments they receive from Rolex. Apparently they get the shipment and whatever is in that container is what they get. At first I was skeptical but I have heard it from nearly all the AD's I have visited in USA/Canada.

My AD/Boutique told me that Rolex allow them to order Datejust only. It took around 2 to 6 months for delivery.

Order placing is increasing. Most DateJusts can be ordered. Gold and sports are allocated annually and cannot be ordered individually. ADs still do not know when their allocation will arrive, but they do know what is in their allocation. Who knows, all this will go away super-fast if watches start sitting in the case unsold.

An AD can order any watch. BUT, Rolex can subsequently reject the order. My AD tries to order certain things all the time. Some are accepted and eventually arrive, others are denied. Rolex has even told them on a few repeat attempts "you might as well stop, we aren't going to approve this one". So even the AD doesn't always know for sure what they will and will not be allowed to order.

I’m sure there are some less in demand Datejusts and women’s models that US dealers can “ask for” which is a more realistic term than “order.” Other than that US dealers are told at the beginning of the year what they will be allocated but no promised timetable.
Both my BLRO and Daytona had “Special Order” written on the sales receipt when I picked them up. What that really meant was I was put on their “list” and when my number came up I got my requested model. Nothing prior in writing, no deposit, just an assurance I would get them and a time estimate for both that ended up being shorter. Lots of My Dealer Said out there but I’m pretty sure that all US dealers are treated the same by RolexUSA with higher tier AD’s getting more inventory. |

I ordered 2 OPs when the were announced with a 20% deposit. I was told they do not do that anymore. They do have lists. I was in the SS Daytona list for 4 years and got the call on July 4th. My SA asked what is next? I said I have never seen a Datejust Blue Motif, put me on the list for that. Still waiting.

There is no ordering unless you have been vetted and approved to get a rainbow Daytona.

This is also what I was told. Not even for PM.

Hot models are typically never ordered.
PM watches (like DD) used to be able to get ordered all the time. but for example, I currently have been waiting since summer on my wife's DJ36 (as an order). It wasn't basic color though, it was MOP diamond dial with diamond bezel. As these aren't sent out all the time. Therefore, according to my SA, it could be (and was) ordered. He told me the backlog/delays with receiving said orders are also drastically different than before. That he could usually get stuff within a couple months prior to COVID, now the wait is usually anywhere from 6-18 months and there's never an ETA. I ordered though because he allowed me to lock in my price and prepay, which I did, just in case Rolex has a price increase for 2023. |

I was told no orders can be taken on sports models. Tried to order a DJ 36 and it was rejected by Rolex.
