The watch has a DLC coating on it. I think the DLC is also a perk of buying this watch which I don't believe comes from the Rolex factory. I am not sure I would want a coating that may peel off in the future. I don't know if that is possible or not but its a concern.

There are some who think that this is the Deep Sea that Rolex should have released but they didn't so it's not.

I expect it to carry a BIG premium over the price of a proper Deep Sea and I think Rolex might suggest that you send it back to the modifier if it ever required warranty work or a service.

I am not sure if Rolex would work on it knowing that it had been stripped down coated and re-dialed etc.

I like the 'DEEPSEA' in red but not the coating.

I agree with the others - the red lettering is beautiful, not sure about the coating.

Looks pretty hard-core, but unless its gonna be a safe-queen, that coating will scratch and start to look very tatty

I'd rather have the original...for the price of a DSSD! =)

Stick to the original issue , it is cheaper and in 30 years time it will still look good and will have gained in value . All "homemade" modifications will not. I'm happy with my original and will wait till Rolex produces their next sea dweller maybe the "Abyss" 11000 m in red lettering????

Damn, that looks sweet. If I had the money, I'd buy one. I love the coating.

I love it. Apart from the coating, but the red writing looks amazing.
