Wish they did that here in Los Angeles. Criminals have no fear of the police or jail.

A victim never deserves to be victimized EVER , but walking central London at 2:45am with a $60k watch ...

Not exactly prudent.

I'm glad these punks were caught.

Why the word suspicion, they did it!

"all were arrested on suspicion of robbery."

Because lawyers (or barristers/solicitors, etc, as the case may be).

Always been critical of the police force in the UK but credit where credit is due. It seems they are finally doing something about this. I do agree however that wearing a 50K watch at 3AM in central London is probably not the wisest decision...

I used to work in that area and spent many a happy day and occasional evening in Lisle Street and the surrounding area. Years ago, it may have been less targeted by street gangs but situational awareness was always necessary for all sorts of reasons.

Glad that incident had a good ending and no one was hurt.

Glad the victim wasn't hurt. As far as the thieves go I wouldn't care if they disappeared and were never heard from again.

Three ways probably would of been lucky to net themselves 5 grand each for a stolen watch. Huge amount of money to some people.

Until you plead guilty or are found guilty in Court you are only ever a suspect under the law of England & Wales.

Its the term the Police have to use

Seems like a good way to catch people is to look like a "tosser" wearing an expensive watch and bait them into attacking. I'm not certain if that is what the Brits are doing but it would sure make some sense.

Great news that arrests have been made but the real issue is what kind of jail time, if any they will get.. if these mutts are back on the streets in a week or two nothing will change..

England is pretty heavy on any violent related crimes, will also be a conspiracy charge because it involves more than one person. which I believe is only relative to England (or the United Kingdom). Once a conspiracy charge is given it’s almost impossible to prove your innocence. I didn’t read the story but you’ll probably be talking in the range of 4-8 years per person depending on their particular role in the crime, which they will do half of, and assuming they don’t have previous convictions.

That is good to hear. Here in Canada they would already be on bail and walking the streets until trial date and upon conviction years later (in many cases) would receive minimal sentences.. thanks for responding!!

Oh they most certainly will be out on bail, unless they’re already wanted for a charge of have a repetitive history of the same crime - actually they changed the laws here because bail was supposedly inhumane - they now put you “under investigation” which can take a matter of years to actually come to court. It was someone like George Michael (maybe not him) who was complaining about having to answer bail I believe they could make you answer bail 3 times over the course of a couple of years (not precise) and if they didn’t have enough to charge they would have to drop the charges.

The new “under investigation” system is ridiculous, for both parties. The criminal could of turned their life around and 4/5 years later the case is heard and they are sentenced. The system is a complete mess and there’s absolutely zero focus on rehabilitation which some countries such as Holland are excelling at.

The police probably do not operate in fear of retribution or condemnation for attempting to do their job.

Secondly why bother when they will be released to commit another crime later that day.
