Thoughts on Possible Trade

Would anyone here trade:

Stainless All Black GMT Master II 116710LN AND
Stainless White DAYTONA 116520

For a brand new Rose Gold GMT Master II-126715CHNR

No. Personally, I would keep the Daytona, trade the GMT, and pay the remainder for the RG model.

No; I wouldn't. I'm just not a fan of the CHNR.

The 116710LN is my current favorite 6d but sell the Daytona now for max return. Then buy a CHNR. It’s a love hate model and they’ll pop up soon.

So, comparing all things at MSRP, it’s a no-brainer: $25,000 worth of watches for a $40,000 watch. If you paid MSRP for those two, you come out way ahead.

Question is: what would you rather wear day in and day out? I’m not a gold guy, so probably wouldn’t do that. What I wouldn’t do is hold the stainless pieces for the sake of potential future gains. The key is being greedy without being too greedy.

Give us more info

How much do you love/wear what you have?

How much have you dreamed about the RG GMT?

What else is in your box?

I'm not a daytona guy, but I am, or wouldn't mind being, a gold guy. So it sounds pretty good. But would you really wear that CHNR? Or would it sit a lot? If you love it and would wear the hell out of it, do it, I say.

No.

But I would keep the Daytona and trade the 116710LN toward a TT CHNR.

More info. I rarely wear the two watches at issue and I have had my eye on the Rose Gold GMT for awhile. The rest of my “box” is as follows:

WG Pepsi GMT with Blue face
WH Black and Silver Daytona with Oysterflex band
SS Blue SkyDweller
SS Hulk Submariner
SS Yachtmaster II
SS AP Royal Oak w/ Black dial

Wear all of them regularly

With the other watches that you have in your collection taken into consideration and the fact that you don’t wear the other two, I would 100% do this trade without any hesitation.

Agree. Clearly an affinity for/comfort wearing PM and no RG in collection. Seems like a great deal given MSRP differential (I.e. non-hype pricing), assuming that’s what he paid for the two being traded.

Of course, this is 100% situationally-based, given that I replied the exact opposite in your recent thread (trade away one PM for two SS) .

Touché! For me personally, collecting ultimately comes down to wearing and enjoying over potential future values. With that said, I also don’t want to be on the wrong side of an inequitable trade so that must be a consideration as well.

Spoiler alert: I should have an update on my potential trade situation soon
