Rolex Daytona 2022 Care.
I have searched and searched everywhere and just cannot find any answers so I hope someone knows?
Every where I read, regarding Rolex care, it says Rolex Daytona keeps charge for up to 70hrs. I have yet to come across a clear definitive answer for these questions, which is so obvious to ask but yet never addressed. 1) Will winding your Rolex daily damage the watch? 2) If you dont wear it daily and only wear it occassioanlly, like once a week or once every two weeks, if you wind it daily will this keep it running "on time" (within accepetable errors of accuracy) and not stop. 3) How LONG do you have to wear the watch on a day for it to be charged for up to 70hrs? For example if you wear it for an hour, is that long enough? Is 30 minutes long enough? Is 5 minutes enough? Not a single place addresses how long daily you need to wear the watch for it to keep charge up to 70hrs. I just believe how difficult its been to get an answer to this. Rolex says wearing it daily is fine to keep charge for up to 70hrs, but never is it specified for how long? Oh and Merry Xmas and Seasons Greetings and thank you to all that answer this. |

1.No winding it daily will not damage it. You are essentially just manually winding the gear as opposed to inertia of your wrist moving the rotor to wind the movement.
2. Yes, as long as the watch is ticking it should keep COSC time. 3. This is trickly, in theory you could wear the watch for 24 hours and essentially never wind/recharge the watch at all if you never move your hand or wrist. Alternatively you could wind the power reserve up in less than a minute or two if you are playing a sport with your watch on. It really depends on your activity level. From what I've heard it only takes about 30-40 winds to recharge the movement to full reserve. What does 30-40 winds equate to on the wrist? Maybe 30-40 sudden movements, maybe double that. Who knows. |

1. No.
2. Just let it power down and set the time when you decide to wear it. 3. How can anyone answer that? Are you doing jumping jacks for 5 minutes or vegging on the couch for six hours? If the movement has no power, just give the crown 20 winds, set the time, put the watch on your wrist, and go abouts your day. Merry Christmas. |

1. No
2. Yes 3. I've found out that very little activity will suffice to keep a full charge. I'll try to quantify this further: wearing it to the office 9-5 is more than enough. Welcome to the forum and Merry Christmas

Could it be that the answers will pretty much the same as every other automatic mechanical watch?...

Daytona 4130 is rated at 72 hours of power reserve, not 70 hours.

First step is to get a Daytona. If you don’t accomplish step 1, don’t worry about it.

Welcome to forum dont over think about your watch if not worn just let it stop till needed to tell time on wrist. When needed just wind around 40 plus crown turns clockwise only set time and go.And will add any watch will always perform the best when mainspring is at peak power.

Others have answered the questions.
Just wear and enjoy it. You’ll not enjoy the watch if you’re that precious about it. I get it. Over research and trying to find out everything. Pragmatically if you wear your watch every day or two, the answers are redundant. How much wrist time maintains charge is variable and dependent upon individual usage. You will not find an answer. Does caring for a Daytona in 2022 differ from 2021? lol

If you are confined to bed you will need to manually wind the watch every day to keep it going. Just looking at the time, however, winds the watch with the wrist turn necessary to see the dial. Check the time as much as you can which should be a pleasure with your Daytona.

Honestly, if you are confined to bed I would recommend a quartz chronograph. There are a lot of nice ones out there for very good prices.
Breitling used to make a Colt Chrono that was a certified chronometer and can be had used for around $2000-2500. Seiko makes them in many flavors for $500 or less. |

You haven't searched very much because these questions come up regularly on TRF.
You cannot harm your watch by winding it. Simply wearing the watch does not wind it, however, it is activity that winds it. It takes over 600 turns of the rotor/wrist each 24 hours just to keep your watch from running down. Any less than that and it will eventually stop - even on your wrist.

Wear and enjoy your watch. You can definitely wind it daily to maintain the power reserve if your level of activity doesn’t keep it running. If something breaks eventually, you can send it in for repair and it will be good as new. Beauty of a mechanical watch.

This is actually not true. The Daytona, like most mechanical watches, will be most accurate when the mainspring is near fully wound. As the power reserve drops toward zero, the watch will typically start running faster. This has been my experience with my Daytona.
The benefit of a 72-hour power reserve is not that the watch will run super accurately for 3 days and then die. Rather, it is so that we can leave the watch on the table for up to 2 days, and still find it running within its usual range of accuracy. By Day 3, however, this will typically no longer be the case. Some high horology watches employ mechanical trickery to overcome this limitation, but to my knowledge, Rolex does not do that with any of its models. |
