custom hands on an air king
I like the new Air Kings, but I'm not crazy about the hands. Too skinny for my liking, and I would prefer the tip of the minute hand to extend to the inner circumference of the dial's second markings. I saw on Otto Frei's website that various sizes of luminous dauphin style hands are available, which would look good on that watch. Is it a big deal for an experienced jeweler to replace the stockers with these hands? Would an RSC have heartburn over this mod?

Yes, they would not service the watch unless you agreed to have them return it to its original configuration or an originally available version of it.

Thanks, Al. Soon as I find a suitable used silver-face Air King, game on!
The Explorer hands don't blow my dress up, and I've already got the mercedes thing on my gmt. Beauty's in the eye of the beholder, don'tcha know. I like the art deco-ish look of dauphin hands. If Rolex made a silver or white-faced Explorer (1) with a 3,6, 9 arabic dial, I'd accept the stock Explorer hands on that. |

Rich, if you want to see some really cool Rolex frankenwatches then do a search or just PM Jocke for pix of his Datejust with the YachtMaster hands. VERY cool!

Always fun to switch things around to one's liking. I'll check it out. Cody-thanks for the link below- Warren's watch is beautiful, to my eye. The minute hand on that watch extends to exactly where I had in mind.
