Am sold on Cartier

Granted a lot of people do not view Cartier as a watch manufacturer. Mention Cartier and gorgeous pieces of jewelry come to mind. In the past six months my view of Cartier has changed. They are a watch manufacturer, in fact the third largest in Switzerland following Rolex and Omega. What’s changed my mind is the ownership of two different Tank models. The W. G. Tank Francaise is an automatic with date. Mine is the large, men’s size model. My other Tank is the SolarBeat. Again I have the large size. It is only in stainless steel. Unique, even though a quartz, is the battery. Good for 16 years! Developed in-house. It is a two hand only watch, nothing else. The name SolarBeat comes from the fact the battery is charged through the dial, with any light source. The strap is vegan, 40% apple peelings. Cartier in the past few years has taken to developing in-house movements.

I've become a Cartier fan over the last couple years. I have the Santos medium and Tank Must Blue. Would love a Tank Louis gold with the manual wind movement someday.

Didn't Cartier basically invent the wristwatch 120 years ago? I'd gladly own and wear a Santos or Tank.

Cartier has more watchmaking history in it’s small second hand than most do in their whole catalogue

Your right, Cartier developed the Santos model for his friend who was a pilot.

And actually that's why these watches are still called (Alberto) Santos-Dumont

It's a beauty. I have the blue bezel, white dial version and I love it. It came with the stainless bracelet and a blue rubber strap, but, I negotiated to get a blue alligator/lizard strap in addition and it looks AMAZING on it.

Cartier makes some beautiful time pieces and they're very respectful of their clients. Great customer service.

So nice. My husband strongly considered that style just recently but decided on the TT version. I expect it won’t be long and before he gets that one as well. The Santos is so historic. Cartier makes very nice watches. The bracelet on the Santos is amazing. And for those that don’t know, the steel on the TT model is a higher grade than Rolex uses.

I just picked up the Tank Must XL yesterday and my wife took it immediately and wore it out. Great watch and I hope I get to wear it at some point.

Saw a Cartier billboard today featuring the SS Santos, in Orlando. Very common to see Rolex and Breitling but don’t often see Cartier. I know through my AD and from what I’ve seen that Cartier is hard from them to keep in stock right now.

Excerpted from the lyrics to "Some Girls" by the Rolling Stones:

"...yeah, French girls they want Cartier, Italian girls want cars
American girls want everything in the world you can possibly imagine!...

I wish they had more options with Arabic numerals or simply baton indices, I just don’t like Roman.

They have great openworked movements even if they’re not hand finished and great case designs

IMHO, Cartier is killing it right now. They have a very strong lineup.

It was already a thing for women

Finally got some wrist time with my wife's new Cartier Tank Must XL. That was a joke but she has commandeered this watch. My first Cartier and I do like it.

By viewing this forum I learn a lot. More so than on the Rolex forum with all the investment & is it safe threads. It’s nice to read Peter’s educational posts though. Michelle, your depth of knowledge on watches is always appreciated when you share.

Cartier is indeed a special brand with lots of history behind it.
