A steel VC 222
So Watches & Wonders 2023 is almost upon us and I saw a prediction / wish for a steel 222. That could definitely be interesting!
Is this something you are looking forward to? And realistically, could this even happen? Last year was the 45th anniversary of the 222, not a really special occasion if you ask me, but still. And what would the price even be? The 222 in gold is 20k more than a 37mm gold Royal Oak. So a steel 222 would be around 30k maybe? Nice to play around with this idea |

If it does happen, it will likely only be available to big spenders, kind of like what happened with ALS Odysseus.

My take: The 222 is a cool watch when compared to the AP or PP IF AND ONLY IF you can acquire it at a better price. Its one of those watches that does have intrinsic value... and has a cool look. And if you can spend less for a watch that has equal craftsmanship to AP and PP, then you are winning. But the 222 is not better than or better looking than the Royal Oak or the Nautilus. So when it's priced the same as its two big brothers, it's a loser. Paying $30k for a 222 would be and is daft.

Great looking watch in YG or maybe SS. Does not justify the price but many in this range do not. I would believe a SS version will come in at 40k, give or take a little.

Steel 222 seems to be confirmed. When I asked my SA, he gave me a wink and hood look then told me he will text me pictures of novelties at W&W.

These both look gorgeous. Strangely I like the gold just as much (even though I don’t ever wear gold watches)… |

I don't think they can justify the price on the limited release. Gold is easier to justify.
I would surmise they want 40k.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this would be upwards of 40k - similar to the CDV which is now almost 50k in steel. And frankly, it would be justified as there’s simply more value and rarity in a 222 than in a 15550st with its Vaucher movement in a sea of other RO iterations.

Favourite ever stainless integrated. I’d love to have one but even if it does happen I doubt it’ll be easily available.

I believe one of the the forum members who is a huge VC collector confirmed many months ago that a steel version is coming at some point.

surprised they wouldn't keep this one in their back pocket for when interest wanes.

I think a 222 in stainless or two tone is coming.
It makes sense to add to their line up. History heritage etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Quite a few people have been getting the 222 and I have just turned down my spot for the next one coming. Decided against yellow gold in the end and even at 37mm, it does not fit my wife.

I won't be surprised if they release a WG at the same price point as the YG.

I’m surprised by this. I have the 222 and it wears much bigger than 37mm would suggest. I mostly wear between 40-42.5 but I have no issue with this watch at 37mm. I think white gold would be incredibly, I’m praying it happens! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah the gold wears like a 39 and has fantastic weight to it...I wear it way more than I expected to...I've pushed for them to do it in platinum but soonest we'd see that is 2 years

If I had to buy new I'd rather have a 222 remake than an Overseas 4500V. At the same time I prefer the movement and date position of the original 222.

I recently had the chance to try out the original 222 mid size Stainless in 34mm. That bracelet is quite an awesome design! The thinness of the case works really well with that integrated bracelet.
I read it should wear big but the combination of the thin case and 34mm feels smaller than I had expected, even or my small wrist. I wish this was 37mm which could be perfect. Makes me want to get the new one…

I'd love to see a steel 222 get released! I just hope it won't require all the ridiculous games it takes to get a Nautilus or RO, although sadly I'm sure it will.

VC makes significantly less watches than ap/pp! So, ceteris paribus, it would only be x/AP or x/PP times as ridiculous ;)
