Buyer Name Cut Out in Warranty Paperwork?
I recently bought a 16750 from the early 2000's, box and papers included. That said, the small area where the buyer's name/address may added has been cut out. Everything else about the warranty paperwork is as expected - serial number matches the watch, AD name/address, etc.
I have heard that this sometimes happened back in the day when warranties were made of paper, and the buyer name/address was completed. Is that the case? Should it bother me? |

If it's from the early 2000s the warranty is no longer valid. My guess is the original owner preferred to remain anonymous when he/she sold the watch, so removed his/her name. I think I'd do the same. Buying a watch out of warranty with the buyer's name and address removed wouldn't bother me in the least.

You don't have a right to it. Perhaps the standard redaction black boxes could be more appropriate.

As OCD, the set is considered incomplete if someone alter the paper. Pass.

I am more curious about the dates and reference. The 16750 ended production in the late 80s.

This is my view. Most my used watches contain full names on the warranty; if you don’t, I knew it before I bought it with a blank paper, which I don’t prefer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The document still serves the purpose of identifying the watch as part of a full kit. When it gets serviced next it will get a new card for the warranty.

Supposedly, cutting out the name of the original purchaser was not an uncommon tactic among ADs who took a watch in trade back in those days. The goal was to provide some anonymity. Rolex has obviously solved that problem when they eliminated paper and the original buyer's name.

If the paperwork and the serial number on the watch match you are fine.
As previous posters have said the warranty paperwork will do you no good at this stage. However, I think the seller should have told you that he was cutting out the buyers name or the seller had bought it that way from someone else, that would give me the surprise factor. |

I wouldn't want my information shared if it had been my watch, and EU and UK law puts dealers not redacting it on shaky legal ground.

Dang now it will never be worth $10mm 100 years from now
Joking aside. It’s not a big deal. Not even a small one |
