Can I find a watch ugly and intriguing at the same time?

As of today, answer is officially: "Yes!"

Enter, the GP Laureato all-green Aston Martin edition. I could never wear, nor find attractive, a watch that is literally all green. Yet... there is something undeniably intriguing about it, including the use of colors and materials that push some boundaries.

Would have been better with a different dial and a strap, IMO:

I sure can. Any Royal Oak, for instance. They surely aren't beautiful in the classical sense....but man do I love them.

Enter the Omega Ploprof. Most fun you can have with an engine block strapped to your wrist

The green Laureato is ugly. Not intrigued in the least.

But yes, there are lots of watches that I find intriguing and not very pretty at the same time. For example, 116500 or 16520 and also 15202.

My thoughts exactly. I couldn’t stand it at first…now I’m close to getting one!

So OP my answer is yes.

So OP my answer is yes.

I thought I would just make a couple calls and get one for 20% off but honestly I haven’t seen many around. They must be popular somewhere!

I didn't realize they had a Ti version...now I want one....
currently this one for me is the breitling super ocean 57. I'd def get one in a bright color like and orange or yellow but too bad they haven't done one. I do also think of the elegante when I got it. you're getting a titanium quartz model designed for women instead of a lange saxonia 37 for the same price are you out of your mind?!

I’ll die on the hill that the elegante remains absurd for men. Like carrying a birkin around instead of a briefcase lol

Is it wrong to just call it ugly and stop at that?

No. If that’s your opinion. For me this is more of a “wow, that’s hideous, I’d never wear all that green” but also “wow, it’s intriguing how all those different textures and the shades of green were combined.”

Put it this way: each component of that one is a small work of art but the package is nothing I’d ever wear.

Sure. A watch can be ugly in it's own way and still be very cool.

I have a new version Longines Majetek that kind of mashes up a Radiomir and Luminor Marina with a coin edge bezel. I mean I love it but mostly because it’s weird.

IMHO, I think most Richard Mille fit that criteria.

On a flipside I sometimes get an intriguing watch and find it ugly as time goes on. Time to dump.

Hmmmm.

25000 Euros plus the price of a Aston Martin.

Go for it.
