Vacheron Boutique at SCP - Mgt change?
All,
I heard the entire team was fired recently for potential gray market crap. Anyone have any insight? |

From what I heard it wasn't grey market..... But I know they were cleared out the moment management at Richemont found out. Was very sudden from what my friends told me across the way watching them.

I’d be shocked if quid pro quo wasn’t the norm at half these retail outlets for various brands. Good on richemont for sending them packing.

I am sure there are enough people here got empty promise - if they buy this watch, they get this allocation. When Richemont got enough complaints, things exploded.

Same. "If you want the 222, you need to buy XYZ and I can deliver it in 6 months instead of 3-5 years."

Honestly I'm not surprised, my purchase experience with them was less than stellar and it left a bad taste in my mouth. A true shame considering they are so high up on the Richemont ladder. I'm glad they actually did something about it. Head over to ALS to experience what service should be. Piaget and Chopard knock it out of the park as well.

Very amusing. Now that the economy is slowing down they all of a sudden care about this type of nonsense. I remember inquiring about an Overseas about 4 years ago and the Richmont AD telling me that to get my name on the list I had to spend at least $15k. This was supposedly VC’s rules. When I reached out to someone high up the VC chain I was told that is not the case and that Richmont AD moved on about its business. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy anything from them again

That orange rubber strap is more rare than the overseas itself! 😂

Try the Vangerai straps and call it a day. Quality isn’t bad and they have all different color rubber straps.

Wow. Very interesting! I was in there a weekend before last and didn't recognize any of the people there, I guess this would explain it.
I put my name in there for a FiftySix boutique edition about a year and half ago and then put my name in at the Beverly Hills boutique for the same watch in July. I got the call from Beverly Hills in December, but never heard a peep from SCP. |

I’m curious, which fiftysix is a boutique edition?

I think there has been some changes in the NYC boutique as well.
I finally got the call on my Overseas time-only black dial. Wears like a charm. |

all these people did it to themselves. Taking advantages of people. Not to give a break to who offered the bribes, hope Richemont banned them too, even if it was not the customer idea to begin with. What do you think?

I feel this quickly became a wide-spread problem also over in Hong Kong. I'm a repeat customer that stood on the waitlist for a long time for a 4500v silver, so not a overly popular watch. I know for a fact they have got allocation of the specific watch and people that turned down their allocation, still no call to me. They are giving out the watches to their friends, the list is no longer a list.
The sales guy I talk to last time I was there hinted it would help if I had an important business card, senior enough and famous company. Why the f**k should that matter, I'm already an exisiting VC customer!? Give me my freaking watch, I get worked up just writing about this. It's gone to the point now that I don't want a VC from them anymore, I'm sure they call when they watches go below list in Grey, then their "friends" don't want them anymore.. ..jeez. Ok I'm done blowing off steam :) |

Stories like this just make me angry. I get it, there is no right to buy a luxury watch. But if bribes were taken, whether a direct bribe, or a "subtle bribe" such as "buy this amount and I'll get you one", it just feels slimy and dirty to the point I figure why even bother.
The rich and powerful will always get theirs first I suppose, but man, if society can't even throw a single bone to the regular guy from time-to-time. |
