I clearly understand no "weapon" pics but what if I was taking a pic in the kitchen with my watch and a mean being prepped or something like that (a kitchen knife)
I tend to cook a lot and have very nice kitchen tools and I can see lots of neat pics in my head so I thought I would at least ask.

Thanks for your time and consideration. I will understand and respect if you just say its a blanket no knife policy (although that will make "pocket dump" pics as I always have a small pocket knife)

I am sure you can find a lot of kitchen tools which are not knives. It could be very interesting seeing pictures of a Rolex with kitchen tools.

In fairness (and I aint a mod so take this with a grain of salt!!!)...we have had pictures of Kitchen knives before and there wasn't much problem with that.

However problems occurred when others used that thread to start posting pictures of weapons which then caused the thing to descend into the usual name calling and pro and anti stuff.

Recently a mod posted a picture of a stiletto knife which was posted as an achievement and most sensible and sensitive members understood the reasons for posting yet this issue still raised a little grief!!!!

Best way is as others have stated...post your watch with other tools of the kitchen.

Buddy boy, if you can understand it you're doing better than I am. As Jim's observed, most folks here are pretty grown up about this sort of thing, but there's always gotta be one or two knuckleheads who reckon they're gonna be sucking hind tit if they don't raise some hue and cry. Damned if I know what happened during their childhoods, and life's just too damned short to speculate.

Tell ya what. I've got absolutely no problem with a bloke that likes to cook, and if kitchen knives come into the picture in that context, I'm going to allow it. If anybody wants to cry about it, I'll give them something to really cry about.

I am glad a Mod (Gedanken) stopped in to let us know his stance. Either way I will try to keep any cooking knives out but sometimes you take a pic and do not notice on is behind you pan or baking sheet.

I have a full set (well ok a couple pieces still needed) of Wusthof Culinar.
They are beautiful! I have a couple ceramic options as well but I only use them for delicate detailed type of cutting.... They have an amazing edge, never lose it but can be delicate, I had one shatter as I came down fast while doing some butcher work on a chicken and hit an unexpected bone (small but still solid enough and at that right angle) and it killed the entire blade.

I have handled the David Mellor and they are GREAT knives! If I could have gotten the discount on them I did with my Wusthof I think I would have gone that route!

I've got a full set of ceramic knives from Kyocera... They are great... Sharp as hell.. Not cheep but they will re-sharpen 2 of them for $10 and only need to be done every few YEARS!!!!!

James, you beat me to it. But I would have said the same thing. Kitchen knives when shown in their operating environment are not a problem. Take them out of the kitchen and show them as weapons or other implements of mass destruction and they then become a problem.

Good judgement is always appreciated.
