FPJ octa lune

Hi FPJ owners. I am looking to purchase an FPJ octa lune with yellow gold case.

A few questions… does anyone know the current retail and a fair assessment on what I should be paying on the secondary?

Secondly… starting an ad relationship… this threads irks me on the Rolex forum but the reality is I’m a 45 watch collection guy (all Rolex with a few pateks sprinkled in) and I would like love to expand into FPJ. Is their any way to leverage my collection in showing how serious I am about buying and keeping timepieces and that I have no intention on buying to resell?

Your advise is greatly appreciated!

The Octa Lune is an amazing and beautiful timepiece. One of my favorites in the Journe catalogue. It is not available in yellow gold. Only in 6N (Red/Rose) Gold and Platinum.

As far as the secondary market, that’s difficult to say with so few out there. Probably north of $100k, depending on year, case material, specific model, and condition.

With regards to AD/Boutique relationship, you just need to go to the Boutique, introduce yourself, and become acquainted with the Boutique and the sales client advisors. FP Journe is more of a culture than merely a watch brand. The more you educate yourself in Journe, the better your chances are at becoming a client in the future.

Here’s my 42mm Octa Lune, in platinum, with rubber strap.

The platinum Octa Lune is 54K, so the rose gold one should be a few thousand less. As far as on the secondary, I have only seen a couple for sale recently and they were around 130K.

Yes, you will have to start a relationship to get one through a boutique. That means staying in contact with them and attending events if you can. They want to get to know you before they sell to you.

The Octa Lune has been discontinued, and replaced with the Lune in rose gold or platinum. I have no idea what's the fair price in the secondary market..

Octa Lune is being discontinued? A friend of mine is supposed to receive his BL Lune this month. He is a lucky guy.

It has been updated with some minor changes on the dial (date is bigger now). The BL version is also called Lune now with "Octa" dropped.

The Octa Lune has not been discontinued. They actually just updated this model a couple of years ago.

I think they also come with different sizes. Currently 40mm and 42mm. There used to be a 38mm. I think 40mm is the ideal for most wrists unless you are into big watches.

If you're thinking about getting a pre owned. I would suggest getting the current version of lune with the new moon. I think it's one of the best looking moonphase in production watches.

I second that comment. The improvements made to the moon complication are amazing.

I think it's important to note that the 42 mm has a 2 mm thicker bezel. The dial is the exact same in both 40 and 42.

Here's a picture I found online comparing 40/42 with old and new moon.

I personally would go for the 42. It is the same dial but I just find it more Asthetically pleasing and you get a little bit more platinum You probably get better resell value on a 40

Love havana dial. Did you have a hard time deciding between roses gold and Platinum?

Not hard choice for me. The only maison that produces a RG that I like is Patek. Plus the combination of PT with the Havana dial allows for so many strap option combinations that it makes this watch very versatile

That’s exactly how far I traveled to the boutique every time. And I don’t think I can get an allocation just going once.

They dropped the "Octa" from the name.
The one you have with the offset dial is now called the Lune, and Spartan2009's Havana dial is called the Automatic Lune.

I want a platinum Lune as my next piece. It would be the perfect pairing with my rose gold guilloche dial CS. I registered my interest about a year ago, but I'm really low on the totem pole, so not sure if and when it will happen.

This was exactly my thoughts when choosing the 42 over the 40. Journe does a great job of making large, legible dials. But the case of the 40 looks borderline “smallish” compared to their larger-sized dials, imho. The 42 gives the perfect combination of dial and case size, from an aesthetic point of view. And you get added platinum (or gold) for the same price! With that being said, I also believe the 40 is most likely the better resell value.

The new moon phase is definitely an upgrade, and the larger date window, compared to early generations, is also an improvement.

Me neither lol I was very fortunate the second time. First time it was in stock no hype. Second another member who’s a saint referred me to a good guy and the cards aligned before it got crazy. Third time is like WW3 if it happens I’ll probably wish the circumstances weren’t true.

I have been traveling more times than I can count already.

I’m torn between the new Lune and the new Automatique, which is more akin to the brass movement RdM pieces. Either way, I’m smitten with both pieces and ID be thrilled to own either. They’re really gorgeous.

As a reference, this is the brass movement RdM from
Early 2000s. Sublime to me, but the pricing is a bit hard to digest. Having said that, I’ll probably regret not buying one day!

I think the 42mm are really undervalued FPJ in general. Was told close to 80% of the build is 40mm.

Had a few opportunities to looked at 40 vs 42 with a few models over the years. 42 looks and feels more a little more substantial than a 40

My AL2 is 42mm and I would not have it any other way. I have a 7.25 in wrist and it feels comfortable. As others noted, I think the thicker bezel frames the dials much better

Since so many of us like 42. We need to convince Mr Journe to make 41 or 43mm Cb
