🚀 NWA/Incoming... 26715ST 38mm Chrono/Blue Nuit
Grateful to add another piece to my (small) collection. I picked this up a few months ago…wanted to spend some time with her before sharing a review.
Reference: 26715ST.OO.1356ST.01 (38mm/Bleu Nuit) A big thank you to AP Boston and the team (William, Chris, Steve, Nicole) for always holding it down. A big thank you in particular to William who is an absolute pleasure to work with and rockstar. This is my 2nd piece (77350ST 34mm) and I waited ~ 1 year 8 months between pieces. [size/fit] - my wrist size is 5.5”/14cm so on the smaller/slimmer end. In the AP world, this means I can reasonably fit into 34, 37, and 38mm. In Jan this year, I was finally able to try a Jumbo 39mm while traveling overseas and there is definitely a big size difference going from 38 to 39 given the case design. This 38mm case size in particular is a solid fit! Again, likely the biggest AP I can wear and given it is a sports watch, I’m fine if it even skews a little bigger proportion wise on my wrist. The case/lugs don’t hang over which is what I care about. I did request a 1.5 link so the fit can be that much better. As weight and weather fluctuates, this helps a lot. The 34mm in comparison feels like an ultra thin; I barely notice it when I have it on now, but can definitely feel the heavier 38mm. Still prefer the 34 (37 also) for a daily beater. [design changes] - versus the previous gen, I dig most of the updates that were made. I prefer the new logo style spelled out in WG (versus AP logo+automatic stamp). The new update feels like a higher degree of craft and looks especially beautiful when it shines at the right angles. I like the updated / tapering bracelet as well. Proportions feel good / relatively ergonomic [movement / chrono] - this piece definitely packs a punch (Frédéric Piguet movement, one of the smallest chronographs, no screw down guards needed for the pushers, etc.). I use the chrono feature randomly but appreciate it when I do; the piece definitely feels more "lively" when the chrono hand is moving I’m a nerd and sucker for clear case backs so hoping AP can update this piece with an in house movement+case back in the future [why special] - the dial! The new Bleu Nuit shade is very interesting. Depending on the lighting / time of day (sunny, gloomy, night, through sunglasses, street/night lights, etc.) the dial morphs colors from a blue to matte blue to metallic/live blue to black. I really like the versatility of this dial color in particular. Pictures / videos don’t really do it justice…when it hits it hits [vs. Rolex] - before picking this up, I was able to get my first Rolex (126234) a few months before. Although it’s hard to compare the two brands given they’re two different beasts, I’ll comment on a couple things. First, the shade of blue on the Rolex is much brighter versus the Bleu Nuit. Second, the “feeling” of the crown, winding, and setting on AP vs. Rolex is quite stark imo. The 34mm is tough/less ergonomic to set (no screw down). The 38mm is much better as there is more crown to grab on to. The Rolex just feels much more sturdy/easy to operate…not as much jumping when pushing the crown back in as well. Again hard to compare the pieces, but those were some observations That's all. Horology and collecting is a fun, long, and endless journey. Sharing some pictures and a wrist roll below! Amazing piece, congratulations!
Does anyone have any experience with how the new Bleu Nuit Nuage 50 differs from previous blues? Did the 15400st and 15450st range have the old blue? |

RO (5402). Howevever, the 5402’s color was achieved via galvanic bath, while the modern Bleu Nuits are via PVD (same color though) Blue on the 15400 and 15450 are different (lighter and more reflective in my opinion) |

Congrats man, and the Boston AP guys/gal are great! Size is perfect. I really appreciate your comment on the jumbo vs 38 too. I also have a 38 ROC (grey dial) and always wondered how it wore vs the 39.

Great piece and great review!
I’m particularly impressed by the fact that the blue nuit dial comes through as blue regardless of the light conditions (although different degrees of blue), in contrast to the khaki green dial which takes on completely different colors eg black or grey in different lights. |
