Decision to make

I currently have a 1986 Rolex GMT Master black dial two tone jubilee. It was recently serviced with Rolex and they replaced hands, dial and bezel. Don’t worry, I have original tritium hands and dial safely secured in pouch. So the Watch looks vintage new again. I see that this particular model has gone up in value over last 6 months maybe due to recent two tone jubilee Rolex GMT Master 2 release? Anyhow, would you swap for a 11670 LN (full black dial) 2019 with box and papers? My current 16753 is a bit loud for me being two tone and jubilee and curious if I would be making a mistake on the swap. Thanks in advance.

I would do that trade especially if the 116710 is in excellent shape & unpolished condition. As a financial stand point both are similar in value too.

If the TT/jubilee is too loud for you, then I’d say go for it. The goal isn’t to make the best financial decision; it’s to choose the watch you’re going to enjoy most … and wear. But, if you’re comfortable with the 16753, I’d not trade it, at least for the 116750LN (which is what I think you’re referring to). The five-digit GMTs are classic and will continue to grow in beauty … yes, value, too.

I’ve had plenty of TT models and understand your feeling about their unique look.

In the past few years, I’ve navigated to all SS or all PM and it never fails to please.

I’d make the decision to swap and don’t look back.

Without knowing the values I would say if it is what you want then go for it.

The 116710LN is a technically superior watch, with improved functionality and arguably more versatile. I would do that swap.

How did you retain your original hands and dial?
Was it serviced by RSC or ?

If you do not have any sentimental attachment to this watch, you should have no problem swapping. Just make sure you try on the newer model as the case is much beefier!

Personally I would keep your 16753, but as you say it is not to your liking then best to move it on for something that is.

If there is no sentimental value attached to your current gmt and you find it unappealing then I would go for it.

The 116710LN is the best modern GMT M2 imo….though most will choose the BLRO or BLNR.

It will wear much larger and heavier than your current gmt so if your wrist isn’t at least 6.75” I would highly recommend you to try it on first.

Make sure you try on and like the larger squarer case (particularly come from a 5 digit). I had a 116710LN as my first Rolex and ultimately traded it for the newer shape Sub.

Do you have a photo of the watch? I think if you have a vintage GMT and it is in good condition, it’s better than the ceramic GMTs, considering good condition vintage GMTs are rarer and unique, as opposed to the thousands of modern day GMTs available nowadays. A photo would allow members on TRF to give you better advice
