Why are all the TRF ladies keeping such a LOW profile?

Hello all you lovely ladies.....

What's up? Haven't seen much of you lately!!

Ashley hardly posts, sweet Caroline is rarely on, Karis does poke her pretty head in some times, Mireyna's there on a few occasions, Nancy's wit is being missed and dear Lisa seems to have vanished. Jen and Faith are on, which is good......but I certainly miss all my lovely friends.

What's up with Bubba? Vacation or a Mod directed "timeout" or something? He's been scarce lately.

Joe's been away with work.

He will be back here up to his usual tricks very, very shortly.

The ladies are just taking a break I think.

They keep a low profile here for the same reason they do in other male-dominated forums... the knuckle-draggers that crawl out from under their rocks to make some sophomoric remark about their bodies or sex.

Sorry, but this is one of my hot-button issues.

You said it Woody! I have heard from several other female members who agree with me regarding some of the recent inappropriate posts/threads.

We gals all have a sense of humor to a degree, but we also EXPECT that respect and decency remain the undertone of the forum and ALL threads. It's unforunate that some male posters don't....

Sorry but I can't agree with this.

I have a pretty good relationship with many of the long term female mebers here, in fact I speak to most of them via email or pm on nearly a daily basis.

I would think that the women members mentioned would disagree with the implications of sexism and knuckledragging. There will always be a minority who bring these issues up (as some do guns, politics, religion etc) and they are usually duly slapped down by the very efficient mod team or administrators.

I would say that for as long as I've known the more prominant female posters here, any issues regrding sexism would have been bought up and discussed by them, not ignored whilst they go into hiding.

Trust me, the ladies JJ mentions are fine and well and taking a break...they have busy lives and families as we pretty much all do!

I do too Jim, and I'm just verbalizing what some of the ladies told me in confidence. In all honesty, some of the sexist posts have put me off as well. We're certainly all entitled to our opinions and it's expected that we see things differently.

And that is exactly the expectation you SHOULD have - and enjoy. I must remind all members that the general rules for members, located here;

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=8936

should be read, even if you are an old hand here on TRF. I believe that the issue being discussed here is covered in the very first rule in that thread.

The Moderation Team thanks you for adhering to these rules, thus providing an enjoyable experience for ALL TRF members.

I do agree with you Karis that you should expect decency and I'm sorry that in today's day and age, some guys still post with sexist content which offends you and the other female members here.

I was just trying to say that as a whole the forum is pretty decent and the mods usually do a great job in tidying up. In the instances when they might not be quick enough, there is usually a core of "gentlemen" members who might fire off a pm recommending the bad behaviour is toned down.

In the cases I've seen, a few of the ladies are quite forthcoming also with their disapproval and rightly so IMHO, that's why I think the lack of posts isn't really an issue with what has been mentioned!

Things go on behind the scenes.

Forums evolve.

Members come and go.

It could be anything...what is important is that those mentioned are all well and safe!

Everyone needs to remember that life is about change even though we want things to stay/remain the same. With fall coming on there's school to get ready for and priorities need to adapt to taking care of family first. When their schedules permit I'm sure we will see their cheerful faces and comments once again!!!

I would have to disagree with you on this matter since I also communicate with some of the female members here outside of this forum. Sexism and the general acceptance of it has left a negative mark on some of the members here. This forum is pretty much a boy's club. You may ask why it hasn't been brought up then? The fact that it has, but it hasn't been given the appropriate attention that it deserves. Some members feel that they are targeted for being outspoken. And unfortunately the issue goes up beyond the general membership.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes that most of us are not aware of. And it's not always for the better.

It would be a shame if people were made to feel uncomfortable here because of a few insensitive comments. I'm relatively new here, but I have already read a couple of cringe worthy comments.
Hopefully folks will be more thoughtful moving forward.

I agree with most of the said comments. Life is full of surprises, and all of a sudden people do tend to get very busy very quickly. In fact personally I was away from the fourms for a few days just because we have a family member up from NY, and we are showing him the (lack of) sights in CT.
All I have to add is I hope the female members will return !!

I'll be honest . . . I am very surprised and disturbed by some of the comments posted on this thread. I had absolutely no idea about this issue of sexism on the forum.

I have always thought the mods did an excellent job of removing offensive posts and the members who posted them.

Of course, I am not that bright, and I do drag my knuckles on occassion--not, however, out of any misogynistic feelings towards women, but simply because--well--I am a giant gorilla.

In all seriousness, however, I hope those female members who have been offended can return feeling more comfortable with the environment on TRF.

I guess I haven't been on that much, as I haven't noticed any sexist posts...

Summer vacation is winding down, and probably other moms like me are gearing up for back-to-school preparations. I just bought my kids some new sneakers tonight.

All I have to add to this thread is I sincerely love and respect all the ladies I've mentioned in my first post. Most of them I've spoken with over SKYPE and enjoyed their banter.

To all the ladies on TRF - you can be rest assured that you will be treated with the utmost respect that you so richly deserve. Yes, I know we males do tend to go overboard at times with some silly pics of cleavages, boobs and bottoms.......but, rest assured, nothing personal is ever intended.

Most of us are family people with loved ones of our own. This is an international forum, but the ladies WILL be respected come what may.....and you lovely girls can take that to the bank.

Best wishes to all of you - JJ
