Unpopular opinion: hulk

I much prefer the LN to the LV for a daily driver.

I received the Hulk for a wedding gift. So there is no chance of parting with it. Then , last year, I ended up finding a no date LN. that makes it into the rotation more often. But miss the date.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the hulk. But I just lean towards the LN as a whole.

It isn't that unpopular. I have never warmed up to the green offerings in any model

Agree. Black is just more versatile and usable. But people love to hype themselves up about fancy colors (mostly because of the novelty factor), look at the recent craze for green dials and the new OP line.

I like green, so it’s a “west with everything” watch.

I've traded my Starbucks for the Hulk. Although I prefer the Hulk over the Starbucks, I'm now lusting for something else. I can't seem to warm up with a green rolex.

If Rolex were to make a new Hulk with a deeper green dial and bezel, I'd be a candidate for one. I turned down the 116610LV at the AD back in 2016, not my shade of green except under dimmed lighting conditions.

I am not a huge fan of the green. I like to match a watch with whatever I am wearing. Steel/black, even gold/black kind of matches what I am wearing much more than the green does. My wife, however, loves green. I just got her a DJ31 in the mint green and she seems happy with it. Green just isn't my color on a watch.

I also turned down the Hulk back in 2016. Not a fan of the maxi case 40mm. Now if they re released it in the newer 41mm case..... Yes please

Green is my favorite color, and I incorporate it whenever I can, whether it's a phone case, hat, etc. When I went to purchase the Hulk a while ago, I was so excited on the drive there. Then when I saw it in person, I was like, 'What the...'. I can't put it into words, but it was far from perfect. I know no watch is perfect, but what made the Hulk look awesome in photos was not true in person, so I had to pass, and I don't regret it despite the recent hype

Green is my favorite color as well, but even I would probably shy away from the Hulk as a daily wear watch. As part of a collection with some quieter options, absolutely.

Now the current LV with the black dial, that I could wear daily probably. Gives you the green but the black dial tones it down quite a bit I think.

But lets just say I'm not at all disappointed with my black bezel, probably the ideal daily wearer.

I prefer the starbucks to hulk. The subrust dials looks great in some angles but not when you are looking down your own wrist.

The Green bezel / black dial combo is great. I never warmed up to the all green Hulk.

Green is my favorite color and I’m on a green watch collecting thing right now.

The new smokey green santos de Cartier and hulk are high on my list.

I think green dials are something that’s hard to capture on photos/videos. In person they just come alive.

But I totally get they’re not for everyone.

Green is my favorite color and I happen to love thick lugs, so the 116610LV is definitely a keeper.

Prefer black also, and don’t get the higher prices for a green bezel

My absolute favourite, the more it is disliked the more I feel I have a watch no one wants and I like that.

Green is my favourite colour, but never liked the Hulk's dial, I very much prefer the 16610LV.

Spot on Bas.

On an interstate visit a few years ago I was offered the choice the full green deal or a 114060.

I chose the 114060.

The full green was too much green for me compared to my 16610LV.

Either you love it or you don’t. Nothing wrong with that. Clearly there are many in both camps, which, IMHO, makes for an interesting watch.

I love green. I love the all green Omega diver. The green is much more muted that on the Hulk. It’s a great color and works better as a daily driver. I also have the Starbucks which I also love, but not as a daily. I also have the Tudor Harrod’s, but since getting the Omega it’s going to get moved.

Did I mention I love green, lol

The world would be very dull if everyone liked the same things. I've never seen a green watch I liked enough to buy it. Apart from the 116610LV which for some reason I love.

I ended up selling my 126610LN to obtain a hulk a month ago, so glad I did. The black just became a little boring to me & the green dial works way better w the BLRO on Jubilee & a LN GMT in the current rotation imo. That green dial just pops & is way cool how it changes colors in certain lighting & angles.

I own both the 114060 and the 116610LV. Both great watches but if I had to choose as an everyday watch it would be the 114060. I like the dial and appearance of the black Submariner. The Hulk is a cool novelty and on occasion I enjoy wearing it.

Hulk will always be a special watch. I like the black bezel Submariner, but it's too common and a bit boring for me. I went for an SD43 because I feel it's more special than a black Sub.

Back "in the good old days" Hulk languished in the display cases. It's certainly somewhat of a hype piece now... but so are all the other SS models

I have a strange relationship with green! Some shades I love, others I can't stand.

The 116610LV definitely falls more towards the "dislike" end of the spectrum for me, so the LN is absolutely a more versatile piece IMO.

This string is a very interesting read and really shows the ebb and flow in taste trends.

I bought one back in 2011. Because the demand and interest was so low, I was able to get it at a discount - like $6200. If you go back and read Forum posts from that era, you will see post-after-post about of how so may people wouldn't buy it, were extremely hesitant, or selling it to get off the sinking ship.

Unfortunately, I was so influenced that I sold mine - or, more accurately, used it in trade. But I've always missed it.

When my missing it overwhelmed my good sense, I started searching for it again.... but it was nearly $30k in 2022 - lol I waited and got it at $20k, but now it's down to $16k.... and will probably under $10k within a year or two. But I love it and don't look back. Whatever the market does, short of paying for shelter or health, I'll never get rid of it.

But none of this matters. Buy what you want, when you want it, if it makes you happy. We all spend money on dumb stuff all the time. Unless you are running a business selling watches, any watch over $100 is a luxury purchase not a need.

And to the OP's original point, you never know if you might fall in love with it. .
