$1000 iphone case from Japan!!!???

Just saw this one $1000 iphone case from Japan...

The so-called JAPAN TEXTURE [JP] series consists of a total of five cases with different designs. Created under the supervision of a historian, SoftBank says each case is covered with special lacquer and gold dust. It takes three to four weeks to make one, which kind of explains the price.

The main idea of these cases is to show how Japanese warlords from the Sengoku period would probably use their iPhones if they lived today. Each case comes with a specially designed pouch, a booklet explaining the historical background of the design and a storage box.

Would you???

No, I just can't see spending $1000 on a watch case for a $200 phone.

No, but a lot of people will. Mobile phones are most definitely a status symbol in Japan.

A good percentage of the population doesn't even have a home computer because they can do anything on their phones.

Very nice and beautiful iPhone cases. I can see why they are expensive but for me they are out of my price range!!!

Beautiful. Not that important to me to spend $1k on a phone case, though.

Totally agree. Only time will tell how successful they are. None of my students have iphones, so I'll have to alternate between scoping out people's watches and checking out their cell phones too

When I was in Japan, I walked into a department store and you wouldn't believe how advanced their cell phones are to ours. This was 4 years ago.

I am sure we have caught up to them with the iPhone applications.
