'Wimbledon' discontinue
I was visiting my local AD over the weekend and overheard one of their clients mention the potential of Wimbledon Dial discontinuing. I never like the marker at 9 o'clock but wonder if anyone hearing the same thing?

Not heard anything, but it’s not a great looking dial TBH.

Oh, I love the Wimbledon. Definitely my favorite watch. That's a shame if it's true.

With Rolex’s sponsorship of one the most well known sporting events in the world, I highly doubt that rumor. It IS a polarizing dial. People seem to love it or hate it. I find myself being gradually more drawn to it.

Watches and wonders was 4 months ago which included the Milgauss discontinuation along with several releases. If your speculating this early on then I think your prepared to make a decision to purchase a particular model you believe to be discontinued. But I think you need to do your own due diligence and build your own assumptions first. Rather then listening to gossip on this forum or over hearing someone elses conversation. I purchased a Milgauss a year before it was discontinued because of a few factors. You can look up my posts to find it. It worked out for me, I got the watch at a price a little higher then MSRP but well below what people are asking now. But only because I felt confident to make that decision. Just make sure you can live with the decision.

What's worse than "My AD said..."?
A "client said..."

I would not put much weight in what a customer in the store said. They may be just leveraging to obtain the watch quickly from the AD.

I’d be surprised if they discontinued it. As others have stated it’s a perfect tool with its connection to the sporting world

There is a very specific reason for that nine o’clock marker.
Part of the charm of the dial. As to a “client said”, that is way funnier than “my AD said”.

What's the specific reason for the 9 o'clock? I overheard the conversation but the SA did respond it has been a significant increase in inquiries for this specific dial.

Does Rolex typically only discontinue dials at one time of the year, or do they rogue add/discontinue dials/etc. anytime?

I'm going to crack up if I go to the sales forum and see dealers posting them with "rumored to be discontinued soon" lol

Great! Now my Wimbledon is worth more than my 116509. If anybody has another Wimbledon they want to trade for it, let me know!

I’m not sure how Rolex can get away with labelling the DJ as a 41mm and the Daytona a 40mm. The Daytona looks like a 36mm next to these two brutes! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

'Wimbledon' discontinue
Quote:
When I picked up my DJ41, I thought the AD made a mistake l. I thought they gave me a 36 instead. I know others have said the same thing on this forum. It felt tiny on my wrist compared to my Submariner and Seamaster. But it was in fact a 41. Some people think it looks huge, and I suppose it might for folks with < 7” wrists. So that puts the size of the Daytona into perspective… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That’s funny. My 2 current Rolex lineup consists of the new Sub and an older Explorer 36mm. My wife also has a 36mm DJ and it’s size seems perfect to me! If you’re saying the DJ41 is a small 41mm watch, that Daytona must be closer to 34mm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
