TT Daytona?

Two Tone Daytona has been in my mind lately. Would this least desirable Daytona be a lot easier to get from AD?

Easier than steel? Yes

How easy? Not sure

Even if it was easier before it will take a little longer compared to past few months since there is a new reference now

Also... prices are very close to retail from trusted dealers right now - and there can be another raise in jan. so i wouldn't wait

A lot easier compared to 2021. I would say 6-12 months top if you have no purchase history.

You might get lucky if you don't mind the old reference as there might be a few kicking around that they need to offload before the new ones arrive. If you want the new reference, you will probably be waiting a while as everyone-included me-will want that one

Anyone know how that works? If get the old reference, do I pay the older reference price? save a few bucks.

But I typically prefer the current generation if I have my way.

I got one in January after a tedious year's wait. Couldn't believe it took so long for the least desirable Daytona. If it's within 10% of MSRP, I'd go grey. Well, ask your AD first, in case lightning strikes and she can promise one within 3 months.

Easy within 12 months if you’re flexible with dial colours.

Will be even quicker if you’re open to the one with diamond markers.

The first Daytona I saw in my AD's window in 2018 was a TT. The most recent Daytona I saw in my AD's window 2 months ago (for sale, not for exhibition only) was a TT.

This suggests that a TT is comparatively easy to get. I'm no Daytona fan, although I think the TTs are the nicest looking variants.

Yes, definitely the easiest version of the Daytona to get at retail. My AD said the TTs are the least requested. I got mine less than 2 months after requesting it.

It’s baffling to me that someone who has zero shot of getting a SS Daytona at retail would not at least consider TT.

I totally agree with you.

I’m a big fan of TT Daytonas.

Especially the new 126503 champagne dial, love that they added the dark subdial rings.

Why is no one talking about this one???

My very first interaction with a Rolex AD was back in January of this year and brought up the challenge of getting a Daytona while trying on a TT, and the AD said "actually I can probably get you this watch in a few months."

At that point I was very naïve on the fact that SS held such prestige over PM.

I will be honest I did not really look at the newer two tone, but WOW that actually looks great compared to the 116503 in basic black/white dials

I totally agree. The new TT champagne and black dials are a huge upgrade over the previous versions. White dial looks mostly the same though.

I’m considering adding one to my AD wishlist.

I’m on the same page. Not a fan off 116 TT Daytonas, but 126 with new plain sub dials rings and they zenith retro look are great! One of them could be my first TT daytona for sure !

The 116503 in white already gives you that band around the subdial versus the concentric circles. So, between the 116 and 126 TT with white dial, they are basically the same. I agree that the champagne and black greatly benefit from the band around the subdials. Those concentric circles made the dial hard (for me) to read. I'm now open to the champagne dial on the 126, while still leaving the white dial (in either reference) on the list.

Some dial colors might make a TT Daytona harder than others. It’s a beautiful watch and probably the best model you actually have a good chance getting from your AD.

I think the TT is great and I don't understand people's aversion. Like if you love a Daytona why not love it with some gold?

I like the ceramic bezel on the Daytona, which I think most people do as well. Plus TT is less desired, think about how many datejusts are sold in steel vs TT.

This is one (TT Daytona) that if you ask around to multiple ADs in the area, I’m sure you’ll get a call within 6 months.

I have a TT white dial. I like it, but not head over heals in love with it for one reason. The bezel. If it had a ceramic bezel I'd be head over heals for it.

While I love the ceramic bezel on my Pepsi, I like it less so on the Daytona. I grew up during the Rolex non-ceramic bezel age and loved the SS and the TT Daytonas of that era. So much so, that I simply prefer the non-ceramic bezel on the Daytona. I'm looking forward to following up my Pepsi with a TT Daytona.

Completely agree....I love the retro/classic look of a the TT daytona. I was able to try on and compare the ceramic and the TT...and while the ceramic was nice...I just felt like the TT was classic and more "rolex" to me...
