Finally incoming Blancpain 70th
So I finally picked up my BP 70th and its all I was hoping for and much more. The piece is simply amazing in real life and perfect size. I have a 6.5 flat wrist, and while it has big presence (largely due to the nato strap) I think its sized absolutely perfectly.
I did too have hesitations about the 70th anniversary text... but approaching 48 hours with it, it doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, looking at the watch (at least for me) I gravitate towards the top half. The text itself is so small it’s not an issue. A nato strap is new to me, I have never had one and have already ordered the black Artem sail cloth. I suspect that once it goes on that it will rarely if ever go back on the nato. Its a shame beacause the buckle is amazing. The only plus is that the nato has so many holes it fits my 7 year old boy who is begging me to wear it all the time. I have tried the FF 45mm so many times, wanting desperately to make it work and it was just too big. Missed out barely on the barracuda, but zero regrets after getting this with the amazing 1315 movement which fits the case perfectly. I have the older FF trilogy, which was my very first high end watch and the 1151 movement is a little flimsy. Has to be serviced evert 3 years basically (at least mine does). Otherwise the watch is perfect imo. Anyway, enough words… I hope you enjoy some quickly taken images below to show the relative size to other select pieces in my small but growing collection. Thanks and have a great weekend! |

Congratulations, I haven't taken mine off since I picked it up a month ago. I did order a sailcloth knock off from Drwatchstrap and they did a custom 21.5 width. I had BP put it on and it looks great. The NATO was not to my liking either and makes the open caseback moot.

Congrats! I passed on the 70th as I like the size of my Hodinkee MilSpec, but I’m starting to regret that decision. I really like the look of the 70th and I think 42mm is a perfect size for a FF.
Also check out Wolbrook tropic straps. The FF looks good on a tropic IMO |

I got mine in early July and have been loving it also. Although I like the NATO a lot more than I thought it would, I still wish an OEM Sail Cloth was included (or an option). Blancpain did answer an email where I said I wish more strap options for this were available, and they said more options would be available towards the end of the year.
I think I set my time to Hodinkee's app reference time on July 3, and right now, about 6 weeks later I am about 3-4 seconds behind that time. I think there has only been one day where I haven't worn it. I have been wanting to shop between a GO SeaQ Panoramic Date/ Rolex 43mm SD, but since getting this its now clear to me I should expand my collection with something else, the BP FF 70th is clearly my black dive watch to keep. Maybe I'll eventually add a GO SeaQ in a different color. The BP FF Bathyscaphe in titanium is also very high in my list, not sure if I should have two watches with the same movement. |

I actually have a few Wolbrook straps arriving Friday, one of which is for the FF. I’ve had it on natos, Erika’s Originals, and briefly on the rubber strap that came on the new No Rad. Ever since I bought the x71 bracelet it has mostly stayed on that. It just looks awesome and is extremely comfortable.

One of my favorite watches. I owned it twice.
For some reason I prefer the original sword hands on the new FF. Wear it in good health! |

Act 1 and 2 are long sold out unless you find one on the secondary or from a private seller.

Not limited but I doubt they will make that many or that there will be high demand. Goes the show BP stands for Beyond Profit. Haha.

When I initially ordered the 70th anniversary I was concerned about the lug seize of 21.5mm and not having enough strap options.
Well, I tried so many and happy to report that pretty much all 21mm and 22mm straps work perfectly. For example, I just mounted a Tudor distressed leather strap and deployant buckle on my Act1 and works perfectly. Sent from my SM-S908W using Tapatalk |
