A bit of fun at the Brighton seaside (picture heavy)

Brighton Pier, originally known as the Palace Pier

a walk on the beach to find a beer (you can see the ruins of Brighton's second pier, the West Pier, out to sea)

Penny arcade lots of vintage penny slot machines. You paid in current currency and they gave you old pennies to put in the machines. They were all working.
"What the butler saw"

Fortune telling

Band

Old posters

Jolly Jack tar

Marty baby

As I scanned through those I could hear a Wurlitzer organ playing "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside"

Great stuff!

Peter here is a link but basically it is an eel stewed in its own juices. First from the East End of London it makes its appearance at many seaside towns in England due to the fact that the Londoners use to daytrip to seaside resorts by rail and coach. Brighton is 60 minutes trainride from London.

here is proper food, this is the seafront place where I get my crab and fish from. He sells line caught plaice that has not been caught by a trawler, its amazing how different it is in taste. In the picture he is cleaning out the chamber where they boil the freshly caught crabs.

Great series of photos, Martin. I know about jellied eels and can't say that I cared much for them.... now pie and mash, another story! Cheers, Bill P.

Martin,
Just last night saw a TV program about a big VW show at Brighton Beach. Also saw a Stray Cats concert on TV from there as well. Looks like a great place.

Always something going on clubbing, gigs, theatre. Lots of rallys. London to Brighton bike ride, vintage car run (old crocks), mini rally. VW is fun. My favorite is the Ace cafe motorbikes. Lots of scooters as well. Reminded me of my younger days when I had a few scooters and bikes. I was talking to a guy outside a pub the other night who had restored the same Lambretta Li 150 I had when I was 17, bought back a lot of memories. Mine was the same as this one, the guy had it all decked out with flags mirrors in true mod style
